I consider Yahoo Answers a forum not a chat room. However, Dad is kind of right. Answerers can contact you in your email if you don't check the correct box in the contact section of your account. So just show him this part that nobody can contact you and you should be ok.

That's what most kids think of their parents, one day you will have kids and better understand why he thinks and feels the way he does. I imagine he's just concerned as he should be. There are predators everywhere on the Internet and they manage to collect alittle info here and a little info there. Before long they know how to find you, it's a chance you take by participating on these types of activities. Parent are neurotic but that's our right.....lol ,like I said one day you will better understand

Who cares what he thinks unless he prohibits you from going into chat rooms then I would just show him exactly what it is. If it is just a matter of calling it the wrong name then I would go along with it.

No. though there are similarities. In my opinion this is much safer than a chatroom. I would allow my child to do this before I would let him in a chatroom.
