It is perfectly normal for a child to masturbate. They arent really "masturbating" They are exploring there bodys. Take a moment to read this link

If you still have questions ask your family doctor. But all of the people saying your child is a sicko or thats nasty, ignore them. They are ignorant. Almost every child does it and its there natural way of exploring there body.

It is very normal for a five year old to masturbate and explore their bodies at this age. Why Sponge Bob triggers it I don't know but he/she is probably masturbating at other times too (like in bed) and you just haven't seen it. He/she will outgrow this phase of doing it where other people can see it, be patient. Don't make a big deal out of it or make them think they're body is dirty and shameful. This too will pass.....

I would ask your pediatrician about it at your child's next visit or call and ask a nurse that works for them. This isn't really normal but it probably isn't really masturbation. Is there any possibility that your child saw you and your spouse together? If so they might be mimicing what they saw.

maybe he just really lies spongebob. It is perfectly normal for young children to masturbate, i wouldn' worry too much though

no something could be wrong that he/she is associating spongebob with the act, talk to the dr. my sister caughtmy neice doing things with her stuffed animal took her to the dr and talked to the dr found out her father was molesting her, do not take the situation lightly talk to the dr.

It is normal for a five year old to touch his or her self It is not sick or make them freaks.Just tell him or her to not do it anywhere people can see them. because the more you tell them no the more they will do it.

well maybe she is trying to rub her body after she saw the spong trying to say that it looks like the spong i bath with..if u mean real musterbating let me tell u thats not normal cause kids dont suppose to do these things specially girls ,that may cause them to go deeper and lose thier verginity..i would watch her and tell her thats not good to do that or try different tricks to make her quit this habit...good luck
