If you kep her away form all milk products she will likely outgrow it by age 5 or so. Do a search on milk allergy & you will find a whole list of ingredients to avoid other than the obvious cheese, sour cream, yogurt, butter, chocolate. Many breads contain whey so you have to look on the package to see if it is in there (I think Sara Lee was okay) . Alos there was only one margarine I found that was dairy free. Definitely do the search & abide strictly by the guidelines. It will be a pain at first, but then you will get used to it. Oh yeah restaurants also put butter on meat so you have to ask if you go out. Best of luck ! nurse & aunt to baby with hive allergy at 6 months & mom to a baby we thought had milk & soy allergies (hers was just sleep issue) YOur doctor should prescribe you an Epi pen & you should have it on hand at all times.

Cow's milk is not good for humans anyway. Try soymilk instead. Mother nature did not intend for us to drink cows milk, it was man's stupid idea. The only reason that they say to drink milk is for the calcium, but an 8 oz serving only really has about 35% of the rda. There are plenty of natural foods that provide calcium. You could also try soymilk, it has calcium. Good sources of calcium are :
Leafy green vegetables – broccoli, collards, bok choy, Chinese cabbage and spinach. One cup of cooked spinach contains 100mg. One cup of cooked broccoli contains about 45mg.
Soy and tofu – tofu (depending on type) or tempeh and calcium fortified soy drinks.
Fish – sardines and salmon (with bones). Half a cup of canned salmon contains 402mg of calcium.
People just drink milk because thats how most of us were raised. It does not necessarily make it the right way.

tell me, how does milk affect you and yr spouse? how about the child's grandparents?
milk is not good for people in general. it can be downright poison for some.
an interesting note is that at the very time that it becomes most dangerous to your health, teen years, is the time we are strong enough to resist the effects. then of coarse in later years when it starts to be seriously dangerous, our body's ability to process it is lessened by age. then it gets worse every year.
i'm betting yr fairly young, if yr baby is allergic you probably are as well. a few years down the road when you cannot breath you'll start to understand. quite simply, breast-feed yr baby til time to wean, then get off the milk asap. just my opinion of coarse, and i never had to deal with the weird hormones they put in milk today. read up on what happened to ALL the milk in america in 1971, and forever after, mind you.
mothers milk is the only milk to give a child. they cannot deal with that, switch to goat or soy. rice milk is good for yr cereal, but rice milk is not milk.

some do some do not - have your peditrician refer you to an allergist - after 7 years of allergy shots - there are a lot of things i can handle which i was previously allergic to - it can help you build up and immunity to the allergy

when i was a baby i was allergic to EVERYTHING. i couldn't drink any kind of milk (other than mom's) amongst other things.
my mother took me to an allergist and he gave her a recommendation (of introducing foods to me slowly (and i threw them all up, but eventually i started keeping them down)) and i'm fine now.
so my recommendation is to take her to an allergist.

she might and might not, some children grow out of it, some dont, its a gene factor that is hard to track in children.
