Hey Richgirl. try this.
1. Take a deep breath
2. Ask God for patience
3. Divert your toddler's attention.

Remember that your baby is a gift that you received. And gift's are given by those who love you. Cherish this gift.

All the best.

Don't be irritated. It'll get easier. We are all going through similar things with our little ones. Your not alone. One of the best things to do is have a routine. That will keep both of you busy . My son enjoys going outside.
So we have a sandbox, playhouse, and a kiddie pool to keep him entertained. We also bought some chalk so he can be creative!

If you have amusement parks, I would invest in year around passes. They are worth it. You can let him run around and then have lunch together! There's no pressure and stress to see the whole park in one day. Just go for a few hours. There's also the local park. I know it may be boring going there everyday, but it will keep him busy. Just bring along a few toys and/or bucket and shovel.

Inside we do all the normal things.Read books, play toys TOGETHER (which I think is as important as playing on his own). I also lay a towel on the floor and fill a big bowl with water and let him have at it. He loves it! Now I don't recommend this if you'll get frustrated about a mess. Cause it will get messy.
My son also enjoys when I blow bubbles,I even bought a little battery operated bubble blower so that he can do it himself.

My son loves to help me water the plants, sweep the porch and put laundry in the dryer. If your son is able to and neither of you will get frustrated , you can get chores done while he has a blast helping you.
You can put special toys aside that you only take out on those fussy moments.

I find that routine, not worrying about the mess, and just enjoying this beautiful being gets me through the day. Write down a schedule if it helps. In no time he'll be more independent.

There are things that I need to do around the house, places I'd like to go, but I accept that these things are put on hold for a while. By accepting it, and just enjoying him and the day I have with him, it makes it all worthwhile and not so frustrating.

You can also look on the internet for ideas. Nick Jr. The Idea Box. Parents Magazine website. I hope this helps. Feel free to IM or visit my 360 page to talk or for more info.

We all wake up with a little baby that has a full day ahead of them. I'm just thankful that I can be the one to share it with him!
Good Luck...

In the kitchen, rearrange your cabinets... put plastics bowls and stuff on the bottom and fragile items in the top cabinets where he cant reach them. If there is a place in your home you dont want him to enter, buy a gate to keep him out. Your child is getting into stuff because he is learning. It is YOUR job to keep him safe, but you shouldnt make everything off limits. Whats the big deal if he gets all your tupperware out? Before you know it they turn into teen-agers and you will wish he was a toddler again.!

Get those toddler proof locks and install them to your cabinets. If your toddler is getting into the pots and pans. Or you can always give your toddler some plasitic bowls thats always fun too. Make it fun/a game for him/her to help you clean-up the mess too. Good Luck

go to the library and check out some books on different games and puzzles and learning items for a 2 year old and do some of them with him. also if you can find a play groupfor him to join that would be fun for him. try contacting your local ywca or ymca and see if they can help you find a play group. also check on the net like from disney or nick channels and you may find things for him there. Hope these ideas help.

Girl Please!! You better glean something from everybody on this board that says they are a mom!! (smile) And then some.

In my opinion Mothers, Nurses and Teachers have THE most demanding jobs on the planet. Get this each role intersperses with the other, whether you're degree'd up or not. You know what I mean? Like a PhD in psychology, RN in Nursing, experience in motherhood. It doesn't matter the roles are exchangable!!

PRAY!! PRAY!! PRAY!!

It all depends on the energy activity your toddler has. If he is an active one then you have to transfer all his energy into something constructive like crawling or walking all over the available space given to him. That would waste his energy in a workout environment.. Have fun..

I found that buying a playpen and putting my daugter in it for a minute every time she got into something dangerous or messy she would eventually learn to leave things alone. It also helps if you have a cupboard full of tupperware or whatever that they can get into.
