Ummm, well that wasn't a smart move on your part. Never tell a guy that unless you know positively that he really likes you. You need to be brave and tell him that you understand that he only wants to be friends and that that's fine with you. Then talk to him about school and what you will be doing this summer. man, that sux! .. like totally. I'd be flattered if anybody wrote me anything at all!.. let alone saying they liked me.. He sounds like he's being nasty .. and my advice is he's not good enuff to keep you happy for one instant. I'd play this game I invented.. This has happened to me and all i did was tell him that he's a gr8 person and I can't help that I liked him. We turned out to be really good friends after that. Don't be afraid to talk to him first. Good luck, Hun.

Get over him... he obviously doesn't deserve you... and you shouldn't bother with him... saying "just a friend" is the nicest possible way a guy can tell you that he doesn't like you... He usually thinks its the only way not to hurt your feelings... at least he gave you that...
