After graduation Elvis worked full time as a truck driver for Crown Electric Company, until fall of 1954 when his singing career was well underway. He was paid $1.25 an hour. He drove the company's Ford F-100 pickup truck or a blue panel truck, delivering supplies to men on the job, or worked in the warehouse.

Elvis died on August 16, 1977 from an overdose on drugs. Elvis is buried in Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, which has today become a place of pilgrimage.
