Ultimately, the end of this world (time) will occur when the beginning of the next world begins ... on the day of judgment (although it is possible for the earth to be destroyed before time ends). I think there is a great deal of truth there. Revelations doesn't truly tell how the world (or when) it will end, but illustrates God's victory over evil at the end of time. It tells how God wins, and everything else, including the way of the world, loses. So why follow the world to certain death instead of following Christ to everlasting life? Answer: It's easier to follow the world and fulfilling your desires than to fulfill the desires of Your Lord.
What is also curious is that time ends, but our salvation (if we earn it ... the road to Hell is wide, and many tread it) continues. This would seem to indicate that linear time (hours, minutes, seconds) do not exist in the supernatural world, which would also give some credence regarding how God always was, is, and will be.
Some say it will be destroyed by fire, instead of water. What is interesting here is that fire is very symbolic of being close to God. Many associate fire with the fire of Hell, yet the Holy Spirit also came in tongues of fire and inspired the Apostles ... the same is true here. The world ending in fire may not be precise, but figurative, concerning the state of mankind: On fire with The Spirit, or on Fire with Hell. The direction to which we go at the end of the world, the end of time, or just the end of your life will depend on which fire you are spreading. In the end, whenever it is, there are no second chances.

Not the world but the age or dispensation.
Satan's political beast will rise out of the sea (peoples of the world). Satan will bring peace and prosperity. Satan will deceive most that he is Christ or God. Others will be deceived by the One World System (political beast). Then when Satan stands in Jerusalem on Mount Zion and claims to be God. Lookout, it won't be long until the seventh trump sounds and the True Christ returns. The mankind flesh age will be over. Everyone will be in their spirit bodies.
THE LORD'S DAY or THE DAY OF THE LORD

Revelations 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
Rev.20:1-6; Jesus puts Satan in the pit for 1000 years and make all new as it was before he caused it to be lost so that Jesus is savior of all that is lost.

I've seen it, and it is boring. The age old question (asked of me by a king so long-dead that there is no written record of his existence was), "Methuzvael, will the world end in fire, or ice?"
I tell you what I told him:
The world will end in silence.

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favour fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Oh yes someone knows! God knows. He said he would burn the earth after he raptures his chosen ones who have been faithful to him. Then the chosen will return to earth to trample on the ashes of Satan and his followers. And will begin a new earth.
