My classmates and I were designing a building with structural walls and someone told us there aren't the kind of block necessary to put a steel rod in. I ask if it's right or wrong.

"In terms of horizontal reinforcing, these types of blocks are manufactured in what is known as a bond beam. This allows for horizontal bars to be set in a u-shaped profile which is then grouted."
I want to know if a u-shaped profile made of clay exists, 'cause my classmates and I designed a building with walls guessing this kind of block "Clay Bond Beam" existed or could be done using a saw.

Somebody told us it doesnt exist but there should be some way.

I'm guessing by clay blocks you mean brick masonry fired in a kiln. They are manufactured with holes in them but that is usually to reduce weight; however, I have seen arch lintels use the holes for reinforcing.

Today's buildings usually use hollow concrete masonry (cinder blocks). In terms of horizontal reinforcing, these types of blocks are manufactured in what is known as a bond beam. This allows for horizontal bars to be set in a u-shaped profile which is then grouted.

Not sure if that helps, maybe be more specific?
