I am not sure what century that girl lives in, but the AKC DNA test cannot determine the breed of your dog.
You swab the cheek, send it in, and they generate you a DNA profile. End of story. If you had the parents, you could go a little furthur and confirm parentage, but you cannot send in a sample and they will mail you and say "Congrats on your Basset Hound Mix".
You can look at pictures and guess. That is about it.

Dog registries have zero to do with it. Unless you knew the parents and they were both registered. If you knew that you would not be wondering what breed your dog is. There is NO way to know for sure. There is no place that will test your dog and tell you what breed it is. NONE!!! No matter what anyone says!!! Go to AKC.org and anyone can search the site and the DNA info. It says it cannot determine what breed you have. Sorry.

Well i don't think it will be possible to determine that particular mix because there is no such breed as a hush puppy. They make shoes called Hush Puppies and a lot of people call there feet their dogs. But there is no connection between the two different things.
If you would like to view some breeds pictures to try to guess at the mix you have go to www.akc/breeds.com
This is the site of the American Kennel Club which is the only recognized place to obtain pure blood line certifications and paper work for pure bred dogs. There should be a lot of info for you to browse.

Seriously? DNA tests can show the breed of your dog, but I've raised dogs, and my in-laws raised dogs for 25 yrs, and a Hush Puppy is not a breed, it's a shoe.

PS>> If you really are serious, contact AKC.org to get a DNA test kit.

PPS>> lokerrigdge is mostly right, but AKC is not the only purebreed registry, just probably the most widely recognized.
