This is something I can actually answer, seeing as I have been struggling with an ED for the last few years. Well, to start with, what is their healthy body weight supposed to be according to a BMI chart? But keep in mind; sometimes the charts are not very accurate (depending on the bone size and so forth). If she has an eating disorder, she will be constantly worried about calories...and most likely drink a LOT of water. If she is bulimic, water helps with the purging. If she is anorexic, water helps the stomach reach neutral. Are her bones popping out? Does she have a lack of energy or hair falling out? Pay attention to when she eats...if she finds excuses not to eat, or heads to the bathroom right afterwards; these are all warning signs.

Well, many people have an opposite problem. But if you did become too skinny, it could mean that your skeleton develops faster than other components of your body. Be sure to eat fresh fruit and vegetables. This will definitely help you to stay healthy, no matter how skinny or not skinny you are.

Just a little over 25 yrs ago, I suffered from anorexia. Even though I lost over 80 lbs in less than a year, I still saw myself as to fat. When someone is suffering from any eating disorder you have to remember it is also a mental disease. They will ask you."Do I look fat" when you darn well know they are to thin. they will take mega amounts of laxatives. Check their medicine cabinet if you can. When they sit down to eat, they may have a plate full, but after one bite they will say their full. Their eyes will appear sunken, bony prominences will stick out. they will be tired, nausea will set in from time to time because when you go without eating for a long period of time, your body begins to devour itself from the inside. this leads to long term problems. They will also wear baggy clothes to hide the fact that they have gotten to thin. Not everyone reacts the same way. But these are the keys to look for. When you know for sure, please try and help them. I ended up in the hospital for a long time. It is a horrible disease. God bless you. I hope I helped

You should be able to tell if a person is too thin just by looking at them. For men ideal weight should be about 100 llbs at 5 feet and 6 pounds more for each inch they are over 5 feet. For women about the same but add 7 llbs for every inch over 5 feet. Any weight less than this is getting too thin.

A better sign of eating disorder is if they talk about food a lot and you rarely see them eating (if they do the go to the bathroom right after).
