Well, getting your kitten fixed will get rid of the unwanted behavoirs and will also prevent future medical problems. I will admit that most ovarian/mammary related problems are found more commonly in the dog, but it is not unheard of for a cat to get mammary/ovarian cancer because they were not spayed. Another problem would be pyometra, again, more seen in dogs than cats, but will cost a lot more if this happens than getting your kitten spayed. Also remember, they are quick little buggers, and when in heat, they want to find a mate and if you leave that door open 1 second too long. It's your choice of course, but getting your kitten spayed now would be the better idea.

Get the cat fixed! When a cat is in heat, they get desperate for the opposite sex, and will do anything to get to them. Often times, they try to get out, even when normally they wouldn't even think about it. Cats in heat are Desperate! This puts them in line to be hit by a car, STD's, and other dangers, also, its not really fair to the cat to not be able to fulfill its nature. The surgery is harmless, your cat will come out normal, and much more at ease, and back to her happy self.

Also, if your BF Mom is getting annoyed, she might just say that you have to get rid of the cat, and it would be better to have the cat fixed with a home, than in an unknown place, still fertile.

If cost is an issue, thier are a number of low cost spay and neuter clinics around- just contact your local humane society and they should be able to help you find a spay and neuter program

If you are worried about not having kittens around, most shelters love volunteers, and would love you to come down to spend time with thier kittens.

You do need to get her fixed, and ASAP. Going through heat is not terribly pleasant for the cat, and she will likely stay in heat until fall -- and one time out the door (which she is going to try desperately to do - it's mating instinct) will result in pregnancy.

I just had two little girls done myself, after 15 years of already-fixed-cats. I was bothered at the prospect again, but they come through it just fine. And they're much happier afterward.

Imagine super-horny PMS with mood swings all the other symptoms every week until October!!! NOT FUN.
Please have her spayed as soon as possible -- and yes, you can get it done while she's in heat.

They are many reasons to spay your pet one of the most important ones is that by spaying your cat she will never get a pyometra (uterine infiection) and every time she goes into heat it raises the risk of cancer. She will be a better pet and a much happier pet by being spayed. Also it is the responsible thing to do. When you took this pet in you took on the responsibilty of providing love and care inculding health care for this animal.
Spaying is just part of the health care for a pet.
There are so many unwanted pets who are euthanized every year. If your cat gets out once while in heat you will be contributing to that number.
Spay the cat becasue it is the responsible thing to do and better for her health.

Your cat is not spraying anything, shes putting her butt in the air because this is what a female does when it wants to mate....It's not gross,it's just part of natural and the way it is....But soon or later your cat will become in a motherly way...It's really for the best to have your cat fix....A litter of kittens are hard to give away....and it's healther for your cat to be fix.....

personally, I would have her done just in case she got outside and got pregnant.. there would be nothing worse than a kitty getting pregnant every four months and you would end up running a cattery... and end up with a bunch of unwanted cats and kittens.... Also, by having her done, this would protect her from disease that she can get from outdoor cats.... And she wouldnt' have to go through the agony of giving birth every time you turned around.... By letting her have a bunch of kittens, this increases her chances in breast cancer....

Also, every time she goes into 'heat' then you would have a bunch of tom cats camped outside your door cuz they can pick up the scent of a kitty in heat...

i in my view like the call Ginger for a kitty. She's probable basically an prolonged-haired relatives cat, i'm undecided nevertheless. She sounds like the two a Burman or a Maine Coon. They now have what they call "Early spayings." they say that girls are much less in all probability to get mammary maximum cancers if she is spayed formerly her first warmth. solid success along with your new significant other!

Your mother is right.. but not for the same reasons I have. I see too many little klitties and doggies running around because their mothers/fathes were not fixed. I feel VERY strongly that all doggies and kitties should be fixed. Bringing in more kitties and doggies into the world when there are already too many.. is cruel to the pet world.

it would be easier on the cat if fixed-it will seem like she stays in heat 11 months a year otherwise-think that you will have a better pet if fixed and the cat will be much happier-keep the peace old hippie
