People will say they have a favorite breed but I don't really think they do. I think many others would tell you like I will that I choose my dog by the size of my dwelling. I have always wanted a German Sheppard but have never lived where one would fit in. Being a large and protective animal they should be given a lot of space. Living in smaller spaces such as a mobile home I would love to have had another Chihuahua but I thought it over and made my choice a Teacup Poodle instead and never regretted it. Today I live in an apartment (had never moved in if I had known that they don't allow dogs) and am currently without my dog. I had to leave her behind with my daughter so I know she'll be well taken care of but miss her every day and visit her when I can. So in an over-all evaluation, if you love dogs you usually chose a different one each time you get one. I know I did and enjoyed everyone of them as I truely believe that most people do the same.

I love dogs period and have had many breeds from pure to mixed but I must say the BEST dog I've ever had is a Shih Tzu. I don't know if it's the breed or the personality, but she is a little ball of fire. She has the biggest personality. She's so funny and smart. You can do anything to her and she takes it like a champ. You can even take her favorite treat from her mouth as she gnaws on it and she'll simply wait for you to give it back. She may bark a little if you take too long, but she's never aggressive or snaps.

Austrian Sheppard. Smart kind, protective, gentle a great dog. We have one and I have always been partial to labs and German Sheppard, (sense we had a german sheppard growing up i thought they hung the moon what a great dog) but my son really wanted this one after a lot of reading they are actually a great family dog. This one potty trained in matter of days, learn to sit, stay, and many others before he was even 4months old.

sense i loved my prince dog so much and my chewy dog i am going to say tie between Aussie, and german sheppard

Just answered this same question in another thread so I'll copy and paste it again here.

My favorite breed is the American Pit Bull Terrier. And that basically includes the American Staffordshire Terrier as well since it is just the AKC version of the APBT. I also love any unregistered ones and mixes of them, called just "pit bulls".

They are my favorite because they are one of the most loving, loyal, happy, athletic, intelligent, and goofy breeds out there. They are an extremely flexible breed, excelling in weightpulling, search and rescue, agility, flyball, obedience, therapy dogs, and just about any other activity you can name. They live to please their owners and love everyone. Plus they often look intimidating so just their presence can deter a possible criminal even though they are big babies. Also, they are fairly low maintenance since they have such short hair. I love their big bully smiles, nothing cuter. And they can go from a couch potato to running zoomies around the yard in a second.

I have all three of these breeds...

Rotties because they are entrememly loyal and protective of their families. I am a child care provider and our Rottie adopts all the kids I watch as her own and will not let them out of her sight while they are here. Rotties have got a really bad reputation and do not deserve it.

Yorkies because they are just so dog gone cute! Ours is a bit hyper at times but she's great to have with the bigger dogs. Yorkies do not know that they are small dogs they think they are the biggest dog on the block.

Irish Wolfhound because they are just great dogs. They are huge but very calm and gentle. They are very loyal to their families too.

I've found every breed is great. The time spent on each one shows up in what kind of personality it developes. I can always tell if the owner is a good one or a bad one. You can tell if the dog gets beat or loved. A great owner makes a great breed. Dogs are so sweet that even rotten owners can have great dogs.
