See i have braces and i recently like 2 months ago got these bars in my mouth they are hooked to my top and bottom teeth
And they help my over bite and my jaw cuz my jaw is kinda dislocated but it does not show my jaws always pop though

you probably have an RPE--rapid palatal expander. it is a device used to widen the upper arch. this is done via small turns of a screw every so often. over time, the palatal suture is opened and expansion occurs allowing for a more ideal relationship between upper/lower teeth.
