LOL ... Landover Baptist is joke dear. So is lambuel.

But in case you are dumb enough to take such silliness seriously ... Even with everything to discourage it, plenty of people discover themselves to be gay. There is no need to "recruit" any more than there is need to "teach" people to be left handed. It just happens.

The Landover Baptist site is a known spoof site that ridicules overweening religiosity. Note it does not make fun of believers; it does make fun of those who go overboard in making statements that can't be proved or are designed to rouse those who seem unable to critically assess information.

Don't be upset at being taken in. The site does not clearly indicate its intent. Of course, that's part of the game in that people who do not judge information can blindly accept anything provided to them by authority figures.

Interesting twist, though -- imagine if the question was "Does the teacher's union approve of in-school Christian recruiting?" I suspect that there would be those that would accuse the union of being anti-Christian if they didn't approve of such things. Something to think about.

They approve of diversity in schools. As far as "gay recruiting", I have not heard of this practice, and I suspect it is phraseology designed by homophobics to degrade behavior that does not fit with their belief systems. However, I am sure that "gay recruiting" would be as tolerable as preaching any doctrine or belief system. How does it differ from other forms of free speech?

There's no such thing as "gay recruiting". Nobody can make anyone else gay. The only things that are done in schools are support groups for gay students who are harassed and discriminated against by other students.

I don't know whether to laugh at that or be offended. It's so ridiculously unbelievable that I think I'll choose to laugh.

In the public school where I teach (ninth grade), part of our required curriculum is character education. One trait we were REQUIRED to discuss was tolerance--specifically, we had to discuss tolerance for homosexuals. I was EXTREMELY uncomfortable teaching the topic. And I'm queer.
