You could have a swear jar... Get a jar and some poker chips or marbles, and every night whoever in the household went the whole day without swearing gets to put ten chips or marbles into the jar. Whenever someone swears, take one out of the jar. Tell them once the jar is full, you'll do something really special with them, like take them to Chuck E. Cheese or something.

First, the parents need to stop swearing...
Then, remove a privledge (TV, or a favorite toy) if they swear. Give it back if there is a swear free day.
Gradually, work toward longer and longer periods of time that they need to be swear free (letting them get by on once a week, then once a month).
They have to know that this is not acceptable. The rule holds at school, too, whether or not his friends are swearing.

Don't swear around them and when they do tell them that they are saying bad words. Let them know that it is not right for them being that age to talk like that.
But the main thing again, make sure the people and tv that is on around them people are not saying any of the words that you don't want them to say.
Don't give them any attention when they do say something wrong! It will just give them the idea that they will always get attention when no matter what type when the words come out.

Most kids go through that. They hear swearing at school or from older brothers and sisters etc and they mimic it. They dont know what it means. The reason they keep doing it, is because it gets a response. Personally, with my four kids, i explained to them once that it wasnt nice. That its wrong and I dont like it. Then if they swore, i ignored it. When they didnt get the response they wanted or the attention, they tired of it and stopped.

Stop usning the words and ignore it when they do. Children that young are mostly mimmiking the people around them. You may have to make some changes to remove them from the company of people that do swear a lot. Don't be upset about it. It is just words that they have heard and don't understand.

I have always told my now 10 year old child that he is not old enough to say those kinds of words for I have felt it was hypocritical to say "you DONT say them" when he hears them from others (myself included at times) and praise be to god I have not had any trouble, but if that should fail there is always the tried and true method of a good washing with a bar of homemade soap

DON'T LISTEN to the people who are blaming you!!! They could pick it up ANYWHERE. At daycare or even at the mall they can overhear it! This is very normal for all kids to go through. The mothers who blame you just think they are prefect. Which, they are probably not even close!!!! I would wash out their mouths with soap or try time outs. My son is going through the same thing ( and I NEVER use bad language )!!!! Good Luck..

Hmmm ... three and five. I wonder where they were exposed to such language in the first place?
Ignore it - if they don't get a rise out of you, then the urge to use those words will dissipate. Tell them in a matter-of-fact voice that they may not use those words outside of the house.

Try getting "The Nanny" on them. If that doesn't work, talk to them and let them know swearing is not good. If they make THAT difficult......get the belt.
