Because I've been having strange accourences around my house (which is haunted) where I get the sensation of being pinched, slapped, and scratched right before I'm dozing off to sleep and when I wake up, I come to find that I have horrible scars and marks and what not in the exact same places on my body where I felt the sensations!

I am a ghost hunter. Yes some ghosts can, however they are not ghosts. They are a level 3 or above poltergiest. Ghosts in general are 99.9% harmless, the .1% that do cause harm are in this classification. A few years ago, my mother and myself would get the same sensaton that someone was putting their hand on our legs as we were driving. after a while it stopped until one night i was held down in bed and felt as though i was being strangled. I had to fight whatever it was off and then after that we had alot of bizarre things happen. Slams on the front door that other people heard. Waking to someone standing at the foot of my bed, one night someone sat on my bed as i woke up. I've felt a cold tap many times on my back and others have seen figures next to their cars when they leave the house at night. I do believe they can harm, but i think it is only out of frustration and anger.

What most people consider "ghosts" are really demons. Yes they can do physical harm to a person. I'd suggest developing a strong faith in God right now! Moving wouldn't hurt matters either.

We believe thet these type of spirits you described can only inflict very slight sensation. The majority of harm caused is self inflicted due to fright or psychosematic epidermal reaction.
Basacilly, if you just accept that they are there and will not cause major injury you will become more comfortable.

I totally agree with mad_may70. There are no such thing as ghosts, but there are demons which people say are ghosts. Yes, they can do physical harm

Ghosts can't because there are no such things. What you are experiencing are demons. They will harm you.

I think they can only harm you if you decide/believe they can.
Try picturing them peaceful and harmless.
Maybe then the marks will change.
