I am not talking about the Our Father in Matthew, that prayer was for us. The heart and Prayer of Jesus is found in: John 17.
Verse 21: "so that they all be one, as you father are in me, and I in you."
verse 22: "so that they be one, as we are one."
Then why are there 38,000 Christian denominations? This disunity is a scandal in the face of God. We cannot evangelize the world because of Christians fighting with each other.
The existense of all these Christian groups are a dirrect offense against Jesus Christ himself.

There was only one original church that had the fullness of truth and Jesus Christ:
The Catholic Church.
Then everyone split from it.

There are many different denominations because there are many different kinds of people. Sects and denominations are not an abomination at all, but are merely different ways of attempting to understand the same principle of God. So God may, indeed, be an omnipotent force--but there are many ways of trying to understand Him/Her/It/Them. Defining God is so far beyond our capacity that we've all developed different ways of trying to explain the inexplicable. Personally, I see it as a good sign. At least we're still talking about God.

Good point. Then again, weren't the atrocities of the Crusades or the Inquisition offenses against Christ? Or how about selling spots in heaven by priests which resulted in some Christians leaving the Church? Or for that matter, the abominations that a few priests are perpetrating on children today?

Yeah, we weren't supposed to split up like we did. That's a result of human arrogance and pride. The inability to compromise on important subjects. It's more than a shame, but it's also a bit too late to undo. I guess we can only pray that the true Word of God and faith in Jesus continues to be promulgated throughout this world...

I belong to a non-denominational church and when we have communion our Pastor invites everyone who knows Jesus as their Savior who might be visiting to partake with us because as the Bible teaches there is one church with Jesus Christ as the head. That having been said, I think that you might be overdramatizing the situation a bit when you say "We cannot evangelize the world because of Christians fighting with each other".
Sure, carnal Christians who are more interested in proving that their denominational interpretation of doctrines are correct than another group of Christians is a poor witness for Christ in this world. But it isn't like God was taken by surprise at this turn of events and now the church of Christ is rendered ineffective in spreading the Word to lost souls.
The Father draws those whom He would call to be saved to Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit and He works all things together for good. If you read the epistles of Paul or the book of Revelation chapters 2 & 3 you see that from the beginning there have been divisions and differences between local churches.
The true church of Christ consists of all of those born again believers who make up the body of Christ no matter where they go to learn and fellowship and worship. Jesus warned about "tares" that the Devil would plant side by side with the "wheat" in God's Kingdom and He didn't sound particularly worried about it.
But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. Matthew 13:25-30
If you feel called to be used by the Holy Spirit to bring conviction upon those who sow the seeds of disunity in Christendom, then head on my brother! But don't get discouraged and magnify the problem by bringing the issue before the unsaved. That's like what Paul got on the immature Christians at the Church in Corinth for.
"Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? 1 Corinthians 6:1-5

Yes, I have read it. That is why I am non-denominational and only believe what the Holy Bible says, and not what all the different denominations add to it, and subtract from it.

It does not matter what "sect" you belong in. Just be a Christian and do not try to figure out what everybody else is doing!
Believe in your Faith and yourself. We do not need more "I believe what is right and you don't". Others feel just as strongly about the way they have interpreted God's Word. God loves us all. HE did not deem any belief in him as superior, it is belief in HIM!

Well, as Orthodox Jews, we appreciate that you Christians have extensive divisiveness amongst yourselves. This means you will spend less time bothering us with your evangelical efforts, and more time fighting each other.
