It would depend very much on the layout of the city - whether it was spread out and sprawling all over the place or just a few skyscrapers.

Manhattan is the most densely populated area of the US with a density of 67,000 people per square mile - on that basis 20,000 people could live in an area not much bigger than quarter of a square mile.

Cities such as London or Paris have a lower population density because they have fewer skyscrapers and you'd need to take about 2 and a half square miles of London to hold 20,000 people.

As a rough rule of thumb - allow 5000 people per square kilometre (about 13,000 people per square mile).

not very large and it also depends on what type of buildings you have in this city -- if for eaxample you have 50 story condos in the city then the city may only have to be a half mile squared. narrow your question and then maybe we can answer a little bit better. good luck

About exactly the size of Cahors (a small city in western France). It had a population of just about exactly 20k according to the 1999 census.

Depends on several factors. Are you talking about comfortable living? Are there high rise apartment buildings? Is it all just houses? Are the people standing shoulder to shoulder? (If so, how fat are they?)

Give us some details if you want more of an answer.

Depends on how spacious and comfortable you want them to be. Usually it would be around 400000 square metres.
