Americans who complain that illegal aliens are "taking" our jobs are LAZY. If you and an illegal alien applied for the same job, and the alien got it, he didn't take your job - you were underqualified, you lazy moron. Homeless people don't take the jobs sometimes because they're too lazy, sometimes because they just can't because of their past, sometimes because they're too addicted to drugs or alcohol. Lots of reasons.

Because the homeless people who are truly homeless are generally mentally ill. A lot of them don't have the money to treat their illness, and don't have any family who would help them out. They are extremely shy and paranoid, and think that everyone is out to get them.

The ones that aren't homeless, but pose that way do it simply because they make more standing on the side of the street for a couple hours per day than they would doing any type of job.

Secondly, to be employed you have to have a residence, a phone number, and a clean appearance. They smell, they're dirty, they don't have an address and they don't have a home phone number. It's very hard for homeless people to get back on their feet, but it IS possible if they go to the right places. A lot of times they are also uneducated. Without an education there aren't a lot of jobs that you can obtain.

And thirdly, illegals don't have a choice. They do those jobs simply because they are ILLEGAL and are hiding from the law. But seeing as they don't even have to hide anymore....... they can openly have those jobs because there's nothing we as Americans can do about it. If Illegals had an option, they would turn up their noses at field jobs.

That fact is according to The Collation of The Homeless. And Social Service is they are not chosen because Employers do not want to pay and give Benefits. No longer is the homeless the typical whino or druggie (they are 22% of the homeless). Now it is families (many young) and those who have disabilities and the elderly. Their pay could not keep up with raising costs. With others taking the job that others could use.
One would want to look at all the factors and not sprout foolishness. Business do not cater to poor here when they can save more money giving it to someone else. In time someone else will do the job for less-and the cycle repeats-with more troubles. In isn't going to get any better only worst unless we take care of cause of homelessness and not symptoms.

There are some homeless who are just victims of circumstance. The majority of homeless are those who have been or are currently abusing drugs or alcohol and they cannot, or do not want to, hold a job. Some homeless are too proud to take welfare, and thereby subject themselves to a downward spiral of unemployment. Ask yourself, if you were in charge of hiring and someone came in who smelled like they had not bathed in a month, would you be inclined to hire them? Most Americans who are willing to work Are in fact working, the unemployment rate is historically low. There are also jobs that Americans would be willing to do for a fair wage, but illegals are willing to do it for less if paid under the table. That way there are no withholding taxes or Social Security. Since illegals don't have drivers license there are no license fees, registration fees, insurance, medical insurance, etc. Heck, if I could eliminate all my expenses, I could work for $5 an hour too.

It's not that difficult not to be homeless in this country, and usually (not always) people who are are either lazy or druggies.

The reason people who can't get jobs otherwise won't take those jobs is because the pay is awful for tons of hard labor- but you know, if the illegals who take those jobs would have immigrated legally, or obtained a work visa, they would have a right to demand higher wages.

I don't think you understand. The biggest contributor to homelessness is due to mental illness. Many of them couldn't hold down a job if they wanted too. Second, many of the Katrina victims were homeless and went to work repairing their own community until illegals showed up and took those jobs out from already suffering Americans. It is proof that illegals drive down the fair market wage of Americans.

Kind of hard for the homeless to get a job when they don't have a phone number for an employer to call them for a job interview, nor an address to set up the employment documents. A homeless person is most likely not going to be able to shower either, so an employer wouldn't want to hire someone who is stinky from lack of facilities to care for themselves.

I think because of a lack of personal drive that may come from mental illness and the fact that they know that someone else will provide for them such as soup kitchens and homeless shelters. If they absolutely had no other means of survival many would work at least enough to survive and a few would not survive. Sad but true.

Many are homeless because mental problems keep them from being able to hold down a job.

Others have many small children and no one to care for the children while they work.

Regardless, they have a right to be here, and illegal immigrants do not. We take care of our own as best we can, but while we have homeless of our own, how can we provide for illegal immigrants first?

There are a lot of homeless that are working, but still can't afford to rent an apartment or houses, they are called the working poor, they are making minimum wage.

Because many homeless americans are mental patients. Or alcoholics. Or will want too much money. Or aren't really even homeless or jobless... they just found a way to make money by pretending to be.
