What the hell does that mean and how can I fix it. I would also like to add that i'm accessing my pop3 from a different isp then the email account is for does this map a difference? I would be greatful from any help. Thx for your time.

Here are some practical issues you may be preventing you from sending email:
1. Wrong SMTP server address.
2. Wrong send authentication username and password
3. Email service requires senders to be within their network (AT&T famous for this)
4. You have exceeded your send volume for a certain period
5. Your firewall blocks the port
6. Your ISP's computers think you are sending spam (they make mistakes); contact ISP

if your POP3 mailbox is on a different ISP from the one you are using for your connection, you might not be able to send.

basically the ISP that hosts your mailbox is blocking access to their SMTP server to users who aren't using their ISP. they do this to prevent spammers and others from forging sender addresses (which is basically what your usage would look like to them - here is a connection from outside the ISP asking to represent itself as a user within the ISP to send mail.)

most ISPs have this restriction for using SMTP/POP3 directly. if they have a webmail client or something like that, then you might be able to use your mailbox on a different ISP.

If you can't send via SMTP, check your settings. If you are using Outlook, view the account properties and ensure that the checkbox "My Server Requires Authentication" is checked.
