My mom did. It must have been in 6th grade before the school film. (Imagine that was an old, nasty nun.) My mom had sent away for this box that had two books, panties, a belt, and some pads. She mostly talked about the period. I don't think she mentioned sex. I don't really remember what she said except the last thing, which was that I couldn't tell anyone because their moms had to tell them first. I couldn't believe it! My mom had just told me the most amazing thing ever about girls and I had to keep it to myself! Was she kidding?! So I went out and went over to the first two girls I saw. I told them that my mom had just told me the most unbelievable thing ever but when they asked me what it was, I told them I couldn't tell them; their moms had to, but they weren't going to believe it. Imagine the questions they asked that night.

My father never bothered. Neither did my mother. She handed me a book for young adults when I was 11. No wonder I had some weird ideas about sex. Of course, they were both such prudes that I was scared to have sex until I met the man I married. My father being a Pentecostal church goer didn't help any. He couldn't understand why when I was 17 all I was interested in were boys and the school hockey team. Duh. The way both my parents basically ignored sex (the only thing I was told was not until you're married from my mother and from my father that I'd go to hell) only made me scared to date. Which they didn't want to happen anyway.

Honestly I have been telling my sons age appropriate things since they were 5....with aids and herpes and all I am scared for them....and also my parents never told me a thing.....I had to hear it from friends.....I did not even know about diseases till my friend had one......I think if we all empower these youngsters with knowledge we may be able to get the AIDS/HIV epidemic down.......I am truly appalled by all the parents that don't teach their children about sex/diseases/marriage! They shouldn't be allowed to call themselves a true parents if they don't do their part......START NOW.......

I was nine and my brother 12. They got the film from the school that was trying to decide whither or not to start teaching sex ed. They showed us the film(mom, dad, my brother and me) and asked if we had any questions. (My 4yr old sister had been put to bed)
My brother and I still raze our parents about the way they did it, but we both passed health education with flying colors Ha Ha:)

My mother gave me a book called "Learning about Sex" when I was in 6th grade. It was a coloring book. My brother and I had a lot of fun coloring (and adding cartoon speaking balloons) to that book!

You usually give the talk with the first period, that is when you should know that since you have started, it is easy for you to become pregnant, however there are some instances where young girls have become pregnant before they menstruate
