Trust me on this. I've lived in Chicago for 10 years. The best sushi is Starfish on Randolph. For great sushi and good atmosphere try Mirai in Bucktown. Kamehachi in Old Town is good, but not as good as the 2 above, but has a cozy nice atmosphere upstairs. Bob San is good, but I don't like the setting.

I would recommend Tsunami...one of the highest rated restaurant in town. It is located at 1160 N. Dearborn St.
Chicago, IL.

On the outside, Tsunami looks like every other brownstone on the Gold Coast -- simple, unassuming and quiet. But inside, you'll find that there is nothing modest at all about this upscale sushi restaurant. Dark, sexy and a hangout for the area's jet set, Tsunami serves up designer sushi in a lounge-like atmosphere. Settle in on the first level at the sushi bar -- for a traditional experience -- or at tables with starch white table cloths. Or head upstairs and dine in the Sake Lounge, where a limited number of people can soak up the scene at tables along the staircase or at comfortable, crimson banquettes near a fireplace. On weekends, the late-night Sake Lounge is one of the hottest spots in the area, attracting sushi-loving clubgoers for its sushi, extensive sake menu and downtempo house tunes pumping from the restaurant's system. Reservations are strongly recommended on weekends.

I like Kamahachi - they have several locations in the city and the suburbs. I love Oysy. They have really awesome variations on my favorite sushi.

check out http://www.menuserve.com/

they have thousands of listings by location and by cuisine, they also have driving directions and other restaurant details.

better than most directories that just give you address and a number, menuserve has the COMPLETE menu to every restaurant listed!

oh yeah, this site also tells you if they have coupons or if they are kid friendly, etc.
