Imagine
John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

This is a great song. :) One of my favorites. :) If you know the Music, Imagine it in your mind as you read the lyrics! :-)

By the way, I posted this here so we could all take a breather from debating about religion. And so we could think of the World and Humanity and Peace. :-)

You know it's funny...we all know this song but has everyone actually read the lyrics and thought how hard would it be....really? I have heard this song a thousand times and never paid attention to the lyrics until recently. John Lennon was revolutionary and not just some hippy with a weird plan. This is truly the answer to everything, yet people are afraid to just live and not live for a god, divide by countries or have control.

This is not a "smoke some mary jane" and "write some lyrics" song...he mastered it. He saw what most didn't and poetically displayed it for us many years ago yet society ignored it. There just must be something scary about peace for humans.

Just wanted to add something for the Christians...John was asking that you imagine there was no heaven or hell below us to expand your way of thinking. Most of the conflicts today and back then were based on having a definite belief in religion and not allowing others to have another belief which in no way hurts your beliefs. If there is in fact a god he would not want this sort of conflict between his children. We certainly are not here to fight a war for salvation. The idea is to be happy in life without the control of man and man's ideas. Expand your minds and accept that what may be or may not be shouldn't control our lives; but being good in your heart and what you do is ultimately what matters.

John Lennon was extremely intelligent, probably ahead of his time. You can be spiritual in many ways without necessarily being religious. Some folks are real into every word the bible says. I see it as a history book and as we all know, history can be wrong. The Bible has many versions and is open to interpretation and has been re-written and re-vised throughout the ages, so I take it with a grain of salt. I was raised catholic and they were the political power of the middle ages, politicians are known to be sneaky. It is my belief that the Vatican has a lot to hide.

use to like that song but now if if I am going to imagine.here is a song will be singing. this song will be song forever!

I Can Only Imagine
Mercy Me

I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk
By Your side
I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When Your face
Is before me
I can only imagine

{Chorus}:
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for You Jesus or in awe of You be still
Will I stand in Your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine

I can only imagine
When that day comes
And I find myself
Standing in the Son
I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever
Forever worship You
I can only imagine

John was probably my greatest influence in music, philosophy. and later in spirituality...i grieved for weeks after that Dec 8th. My GF could not understand, saying you are behaving as if you have lost your real brother...he was more than that...he was my mentor..

..the song's message stands on it's own....

But on the 'flip side' of John there was....

instant karma's gonna get you
it's gonna knock you off your feet !

But we all shine on.............;0)
