Some people go running, some go to the gym. I want to go outside and practice my bokken-do, the art of the wooden sword. There's a large field outside my office and I'm out of sight in the copse of trees on the other end, so no one should see me do it. But would that be considered odd?

I think that's a great idea. Who cares what anyone thinks. Just tell them that it's an art form, and that it's exercise. No big deal. I like people who take the path less travelled and do things that they genuinely like, not just what everyone thinks is "normal".. Who decides what is "normal" anyway? Be yourself.

Your lunch hour is your own, but you should probably ask your boss if you can use the field for fencing practice at lunch...and let him know that it is wooden and not a pointy weapon which could lead to the police being called.

Are you serious? 'Cause if you are, that's awesome. If you were in my office, I'd fire you. You know, never know when you'd flip out and bring a real sword and start hacking to pieces your beloved coworkers.

But, yeah man, that is sweet you do that! I listen to my iPod and feed ducks on my lunch breaks. Different strokes...

It might be considered odd, but why not do something on your lunch hour you enjoy?

So?

It's a sign of sanity not to fit in to this screwed up world.
