We fed him. He eats and drinks. He is purring, seems happy. I plan to take him to vet in the morning. Besides keeping him warm, what else can I do?

Pick up some kitten formula and canned kitten food at your pet store. Since he's eating on his own, you won't need the bottles. Mix the formula with the kitten food so it's soupy. he needs liquids and the nutrition in the "kitten" formula and food. Keep him warm and comfortable, and keep him company until you can get him to the vet. DO NOT give him cow's milk, especially if he already has diarrhea. And yes, YOU ROCK!

That probably should be good enough till morning. He is probably weak because he has not had a stable healthy diet and smells like poo because he's been outside for a while and just simply stinks. Or maybe he pooed on himself. As long as he's eating and drinking and is able to go potty without straining...morning should be okay. Just let him explore his new home and keep him calm (away from other pets, small children) until he is settled in.

Have fun with your new pet. All 4 of mine came from being strays and they are all healthy and (over time) well behaved.

Thank you for taking him in- What you are doing sounds good- I wouldn't let him roam around the house until the vet gives the go ahead though, especially if you have other pets- Keep him in a confined room, hopefully without carpet, so cleanup will be easy, but it seems he's pretty happy.

keep him warm and feed. They like tuna and milk. Just keep him eating. It is great you are taking care of him. Don't let him wander off and hide somewhere if he gets spooked. Confine him to a room if possible.

Well this may seem cruel, but usualy you have to shoot them to put them out of pain because they will be dead and wont feel anything when dead. That is what you do with horses. Lol.
