Please read my previous question for to understand this situation better. I was walking at night (around 10pm or so) and my neighbor's dog got out of their yard, barked at me and then chased me and got me in the thigh. Although there are no bite marks or broken skin, I am considering suing them even though they have already paid for my pain prescription and have apologized to me. Now they have issued me a certified letter that states they will pay my emergency room bill pending the results of the dr.'s exam and whether or not he concludes that it was a serious injury that needed emergency care. How can they do this? I am the victim here. They said I could have went to a regular Dr. not the ER since there was no punctured skin involved. I am so upset I think I may sue them for $5,000.

They enclosed a copy of their dogs vaccine record to show me that he has had his rabies shots.

I have read your previous question:

You are an idiot. They are doing everything they need to do for you. The court system is in place for real problems, not for people like you that think you are entitled to everything for no good reason. Get over it. They are paying your medical bills and have apologized to you. You do not deserve any additional money...the bite did not even break the skin! Because of people like you our court system...and our emergency rooms...are tied up for stupid reasons. There was no reason for you to go to the ER.

If it was possible I would sue you for $5,000 for putting up with your stupidity. Unfortunately, I'm not a "single mom", so I don't think I would have a case.

I have read your previous question and I understand your situation.

I understand why your neighbours seemed annoyed. You obviously overreacted and probably made an idiot out of yourself for blowing the whole thing out of proportion.

It's not nice when things like this happen, a dog following you and trying to bite you. But you are ok, the dog did not injure you. So what's there to sue about? I think you should just be happy that 1) you are ok and 2) at least your neighbours did the right thing. They offered to make it up to you, to pay the costs and they apologized. I think you should've just accepted that and let it go.

If the bite did not break the skin there was no reason to go to the ER. I understand that your neighbours aren't satisfied with you increasing their costs by going to the ER instead of to a normal doctor like you should have. I don't think they should pay unnecessary costs regarding this.

Your neighbours can get away with this, because nothing major happened. If you take this to court they can deny that this ever happened. After all, it's your word against theirs, there are no bite marks. And even if they admit that this happened, I doubt the judge will see a reason why they should pay you so much, because you didn't get injured. The dog did no harm to you and the neighbours did the right thing from the start.

Be fair, be reasonable. It's not your neighbours' fault that you are a single mother and being a single mother doesn't mean that you should get money for this incident. If you need more money there are other ways to do it than to sue people over nothing.

I think you are overreacting over this whole thing. Nothing serious happened. I'm sure it wasn't a nice experience, but no harm was done, you are not injured and your neighbours reacted right. Why make a big deal out of this???

There was not a reason to go to the ER over this, a normal doctor could've handled this fine. The ER is for EMERGENCIES!!! This was not an emergency. Why should your neighbours pay a fat bill from the ER when you should have gone to a normal doctor, with less costs and without tying up the ER for nothing? I don't think your neighbours should pay the costs of your stupidity and greed.

And by all means do explain how you are the victim here. Nothing horrible happened that would make you a victim in this case. In fact, I'd rather say your neighbours are the victim here, the victim of your greed and overreaction.

Get over it and accept the fact that this isn't a big deal and your neighbours have done enough for you already, they apologized and paid your meds.

If you sue them, there's a big chance that you'll lose the case and have to pay all the costs of the court and the lawyers (yours and theirs). If you are silly enough to sue, I hope exactly that will happen to you, because suing over this makes no sense.

What are you going to sue them for? Nothing happened.

You didn't really need to go to the doctor, because you weren't actually bitten by the dog. They realized this and understood that you were going to bill them for the ER just for the sake of billing them for the ER, so now they want you to understand that they'll only pay for medical care that you actually required as a result of what happened.

But, I doubt that their letter will actually be legally binding. It's a bit of an odd situation.

Dear god, though, you need to get over this. You don't have anything to sue about! Forget what happened and move on.

They are doing all that's required by law. If you sue them, I will tell you right now that you have no case. I work with a lawyer, and trust me, you will end up paying court costs, yours and theirs lawyers fees, and everything else. The judge could even mke you give them the money back for your doctor's fees and everything. These people are your neighbors. Why would you want to make living next to them miserable. I live in an apartment building with 8 apartments, and if there is something wrong with someone, I do not hesitate to call 911. A lot of these people are elderly and live by themselves. Do you want to fall down the stairs and break your leg, and them hear you scream and not call 911, becuase you brought up a bogus lawsuit!!

Why are you the victim here? You don't have any broken skin or bite marks. Your neighbours seem to be doing the right thing. They should be suing you for being such a pain. Move on and stop trying to swindle some money out of these poor people.

I agree with the rest of them. You are greedy and have probably already spent the money mentally a few times. They did not sic the dog on you! It was an accident! and try to remember that you get back from this world what you put into it - you deserve to be sued for nothing you did wrong!

Are you kidding me? Is there not enough drama in the world for you? You said that they apologized, that they offered to pay your medical bills and that they paid for your pain meds....all for nothing! Sure, you might have gotten scared, but he didn't hurt you...and I really think your neighbors went above and beyond to make this up to you. LET IT GO. The more you look for trouble, the more you will get.

This is one of the lamest excuses for a lawsuit that I have ever heard.

Suing someone over nothing is crazy. Where I'm from we have a special word to describe people like you... greedy!

I think you are letting fear overtake you. Consider yourself lucky that you weren't "punctured" and start carrying pepper spray or mace with you at night alone. I personally would move on, you are making yourself look bad.
