Anyone who has a pet, cat or otherwise, that they allow to run loose, doesn't really care about that animal. Think of all the horrible things that can happen to a pet: hit by a car (and NOT killed but left to suffer and eventually die), poisoned on purpose or accidentally, attacked and injured by another animal, snatched and tortured by troubled(read insane) kids, get lost and become feral. Then think of the trouble they cause the neighbors; pooping in flower beds, listening to cat fights, speading disease, eating fish from ponds (yeah, like mine). And, no, cats do not "need" to roam anymore than humans. Some like to but that doesn't mean they have to! I wish all communities would enact laws to keep cats licensed and at home. Mine is indoors only.

We've had cats off and on for most the years when our children were growing up. They were indoor/outdoor cats, but we lived in a small town, not in a city or in a busy area. Our daughter has two cats and they are, and will always be, indoor cats. That way she doesn't have to worry about unexpected pregnancies, about picking up diseases or parasites, or any of the other pitfalls that lurk in the outdoor world. But I notice they spend a lot of time looking out the window and gnashing their teeth at birds. I think they'd love to get out if they could.

It is not cruel to keep a cat indoors. I think nobody should have a cat outdoors unless completley fenced in or on a leash. What is really cruel is letting a cat outside so it can get hit by a car or so it can get into dangerous chemicals like antifreeze or maybe even run into cruel people.

My fatty cat is an indoors, but sometimes he will scratch at the doors (whitch is weird because he is declawed). So keep them indoors but let them go outside like 2 times a week for 5 minuets.

Two cats, indoor only. One would like to go outside but it is too dangerous. The other one got out one time on accident & she was so scared that she stayed in one place all bristled up & meowing until I brought her back inside. They do love the balconey, however & I allow them out there.
For cats to live long, healthy lives I think they need to be fixed, stay indoors, but not be declawed.

Both. I live in Athens, Greece and the weather here is good for most of the time. They look out of the window and they are ready to run out as I open the door.
I am concerned just for their vaccines. Are they valid when they have contacts with other outdoors animals?

Indoors!! It's not safe out there. You have other cats, cars, wild animals,...etc. Teenage boys can be extremely cruel to cats!
