I have a female, 8 month old, min pin/chihuahua mix. We usually keep her in her crate during the day with her bed and toys, but if it's on the weekend and we'll only be gone for an hour or two we'll keep her in the bedroom and leave the TV on and shut the door. It never fails, when we return she has torn something up. It started with the carpet. She has dug up a nice area in the carpeting. She also chews on the corners of our dresser and bed. She has since graduated to taking the floor mat from the bathroom and likes the tear into it on top of the bed (she even tries to do that when we're in the room). We leave a clean pee-pad on the floor next to a little bowl of water since summer's here. She doesn't pee on the carpet, we just leave the pad in case. She rips that up though. We come home to shredded, still clean, pee-pads all over! What can we do so she will chew on her toys and leave everything else alone??

This pup is not old enough to be left out of the crate yet with no supervision. It is old enough to be started in OBEDIENCE training. This will give you a better handle on her behavior, provide some exercise, and create a deeper bond between all of you. Here is a link to find a qualified trainer in your area:

You should keep her in her crate until she is through her teething stage. You'll save on alot of stuff being torn up. When she is over 1 year old then let her out for short periods of time when you are out, then gradually increase the time.
