u know, ive never thought about it like that! no i wouldnt eat them if they were in the garden! that would be gross!

I don't eat them now, or any other sea food. If you knew what the world pumps into the sea you would keep away from them as well. At least vegatables have only been in manure.

They're close cousins to locusts - though I wouldn't eat them, locusts are eaten as a delicacy in some parts of the world.

Yes. The French eat snails don't they? I had a mate once who went 'uurgh' at snails whilst tucking into cockles - which are basically the same.

...they would have to be cooked though.

They sort of do - woodlice are related to prawns and are edible (though god knows, you wouldnt though - would you??????)
