Welcome, weary traveller, to the next level of meaning.
The first step is realizing you are not the sum total of your possessions and what people think of you.
The second is realizing that you exist for a purpose and a reason.
The third step is up to you ... start reading, meditating, praying, singing, dancing, writing, drawing, or just spending a night alone on top of a mountain. Relax, breathe, and find the gratitude that washes over you like rain as you open yourself to the Truth.

Why did you categorized this as Religion/Spiritual?? I would have categorized it as Philosophy. Purely as it has no real right or wrong answer and is more of a topic with lots of theories. Yes, it could be because there is a God... I'd never want to rule anything out. But what if we don't have a real reason to be here? What if we are just purely here because we happened to be?? People have spent so long asking questions about this. There are a lot of unanswered questions in life which many have tried to answer but have never really physically been proven. I've come to accept that I'm here for the same reason every other living creature is... nothing!! Do we really serve a real purpose... no. We just ruin the Earth we live on... polluting it, destroying the very things which give life to us (trees/plant/etc) how can you say we have a purpose when this happens? If there is going to be any reason it is that we are here to keep nature alive and in turn nature is here to keep us alive. We are just part of a circle of living organisms relying on each other to survive.

Like every other creature, and plant, on the planet we are here to procreate. Unlike other creatures we evolved rational thought which saw us look for reasons for our existence. We created gods. Strangely, even today, people still believe in gods. Nothing else on this earth understands such a construct. Nothing else on this earth is that stupid.

We are here because we are a mechanism by which genes make more copies of themselves - i.e. we're the product of unthinking, undirected natural phenomena. There are no gods or goddesses, angels, demons, spirits or whatever - those are just children's story book characters.
We have evolved intelligence because it's an extremely successful way of passing on more copies of our genes - Just look at how we've managed to populate the world with 6 billion or so people. However, the consequence of the intelligence that we have evolved, quite by chance, is that we are no longer tied entirely by instinct - we are free to make for ourselves whatever purpose in life we choose. Rejoice in that fact, go out and live your life, and make the most of it, for it is the only one you will ever have.

The reason God created us is because God wanted a friend. God is love. He wanted some companionship, and someone to worship him. That why he created Adam and Eve. But when they sinned, the relationship was tore apart. But you can become God's friend NOW is you accept Jesus as your lord and savior today. God Bless.

We are here to learn, and nothing more, learn by our mistakes, and there are plenty, but what can we learn?
To Love, to accept one another without worrying about the colour of the skin, to look after the earth, and to live in peace, but the way the world is at the moment we haven't learnt much yet, so I guess where around for sometime.
Love & Peace

"40 days of Purpose" by Rick Warren...you can find it at Borders. As a Christian I believe we all have a purpose, a unigue purpose of our very own, intended only for us that we have this time on earth to fulfill. No one can tell you what your purpose is but God and time. Doors will open the closer you become to the Lord. It takes time, work, patience and fellowship with the Lord to have your purpose revealed.

If you are the religious type, then you think that we have been created to obey God, do good deeds, and make the world a better place.
If you are not religious, then you can believe anything. Many people like this live to enjoy life, make money, have fun, and do whatever they feel at the moment.

We were created to love and worship God. God had created the angels with out free will, so He wanted to create humans with free will to have those worship Him of their own free will. We are to learn his ways, through the bible and live according to the 19 commandments. God is love and wants all to come to Him.

I'm not religious but I do have view on why we exist.
In a nutshell - Treat everyone in a more positive way than the way you would wish to be treated yourself!
It's a lot more than that but that's far to much for thus this forum!
If though you live by the statement above - tell me how you can do wrong?
