If they are sloppy in their procedure then any results they get might be due to bias having to do with a mistake they made. If they follow things exactly and specifically then others should be able to follow the same instructions and verify results.

To not compromise what they are testing. Its like when gold is purified, in order to say that this is the real thing, or pure gold, it has to be fired until all the impurities are removed. So, in an experiment, in order to say that this is the "pure" substance that is tested and without impurities, that is why they are careful. Not to contaminate it with other substances. That you have a result, from the testing/experiments that show this is the result from that substance.
