I think you need to narrow it down. The rules go to the www.usga.org website. Maybe you should look at the changes in golf clubs or the latest big move in golf www.playgolfamerica.com You can find more information on the golf 20/0 website. I have several on my blog roll. All the so called golf industry leaders have developed some programs to promote golf to the masses. You can find all the details on those sites. This week is a week long promotion for women's golf. They have another promotion called bring your daughter the golf course, and last month was the free golf lesson month. You may have seen the TV adds with MLB, NBA, NFL and actors promoting golf.

How about this.......first make sure to cover the fundamentals of the game so that everyone in the class understands the concepts and goals. Then show them examples of golf holes from famous courses. Be sure to include plan and/or overhead views so that they grasp the function the fairway, the tee box, the green and especially the hazards such as traps, trees, water, rough, etc). You might want to liven up the discussion by illustrating unusual holes, for instance - an island hole, the Disney par 3 shaped like Mickey Mouse's head, or the Par 3 in Sun City S. Africa where the players have to hit to the green and go over a pit of live alligators .

After this, make the assignment for everyone to produce a sketch for their "design" a golf hole (par 3, 4 or 5). Have the class vote for the best effort.
