Getting married at 17 in any state is too young. I'm not saying that the marriage won't last. All I'm saying is don't get in a rush to get married, make sure that both of you are really comfortable with each other and that your communication skills with each other is up to par. If you feel that you are meant for each other and you will be together forever then waiting a few years won't hurt.

It's already been posted here, but it is as follows:
At age 16, with parental consent, you can become married in the State of California.
At age 18, without consent, you can become married in the State of California.
Now here's where the interesting stuff begins.
At a younger age in California (I believe that they are one of the few remaining states to recognize this) you can become married by what they call common law marriage.
Common law marriage has to do with living with someone for a period of time and after that period of time living together, you are considered married under common law.
While I do not know the details, I understand that the concept behind common law marriage comes from good old England and that most states in the union have removed that as an option.
And while 17 is a young age in most people's opinion for marriage, my parents were married at that age (I was born 3 days before my mom turned 16) and although there were some rocky points in my childhood (no more or less than anyone else), I wouldn't have had it any other way.
Hope that this helps.

I live in the good old USA, in fact I live in California, and you need to be at least 18 to make those kind of decisions. Hopefully you can stay in school or whatever, but your much too young to be getting married! Date and have fun, even stay with one person if you feel you need too. The more mature you are for marriage and also having children is much better. It is hard to set an age but say girls 24 to 28 and boys 26 to 32 is ideal. Unfortunately you are probably going to do what you're going to do, but give it much thought and careful decision making.

girl why do you ask? you plannin on getting married at this age? That is too young to get married.Believe me girl it wont last. Not in this day and age. That is too damn young. Wait and live a little before making such a big commitment. You are barely becoming a woman with a whole new life ahead of you. Dont rush this. Live and learn and have fun!!

It is a big mistake. You haven't lived yet, take sometime to find yourself, see what is out there, not men but the world. Get yourself Career ready. You have to have money to live on to be a responsible adult. Please reconsider any plans of marriage. I have been married for several years, it is not the fairy tale everyone thinks it is. There are struggles that you have to work through and being that young statistically speaking it would end in divorce.

Unless you have parental consent, yes. It's not a bad idea to wait, though....you have the rest of your lives together, why rush to get married? I got married at 20 and sometimes I wish I would have waited so I could do the crazy things I probably won't get the chance to do now. Good luck, I hope everything works out.
