My Grandfather was from Cuba and my Dad has the same last name as his father but my Dad was born in Haiti.

Most Haitians are of African descent but their colonial background is French. Thus most inhabitants of that country have French language surnames.

Put Cadet in the surname box.... Looks like most of the people who pop up have French given names.

Cadet could be from any of the Romance languages -- French, Spanish or Latin. If your Grandfather is still living, ask him where his family was from originally. Or, if there are other senior members of the family still alive, check with as many aunts and uncles, great aunts and great uncles as you can.

Sounds French, to me. Haiti was French .
