Raise your arm on the street. It'll pull over, and you get in. Then you tell the driver where you are going (be as specific as possible).
He'll start the meter and drive to your destination. When you get there the meter will tell you what you owe. Add a couple of bucks on top for a tip. Thank the driver.

You can call the cab service and they will come and pick you up or if your in a large city usually you can just wave them down and than you pay once you get to your destination. Their so expensive though, maybe you should look into the bus schedule

You call the cab company, or hail one down if you are on the road, you open the cab door and get into cab...hi i would like to go to bla bla...thanks!!! the meter turns on drive drive drive...you reach your destination meter turns off...open purse...pay cab driver (you may include a tip)...open cab door...get out of cab...close cab door. Repeat if neccessary....
