It is actually possible if a few factors exist..
1. It is much easier to learn a new language if you already speak multiple languages. Once you learn one language you understand how to learn new ones easier. Japanese is a very difficult one to learn as a second language. However if you already speak Spanish or French it will come easier.
2. If you try to immerse yourself with that language as much as possible. Try speaking it at home as much as possible. Rent videos and listen to music in Japanese and practice translating. It is easiest to learn a new language in a foreign country where it is spoken. Since it doesn't seem spending 6 months in Japan is an option for you try to make your home a little Japan.
3. Be disciplined! Practice everyday and you will be amazed at how fast you can learn a new language.
Try one of these language teacher Cd's I haven't done them but I hear they work. Good luck sweetie!! What a way to out shine your friends!

My husband is in the Air Force and we just moved to Okinawa, Japan. I'll tell you what, Japanese is hard to learn. Because what they speak here they don't speak in main land japan. They have 3 different type of Japanese (that I know of) on this SMALL island alone. But I think if you set your mind to it you could learn it in 6 months. But you have to really put your mind to it. Try a Learning CD from wal-mart or something. I took a 3 week class and I know a few things. My husband learned it fast, well he can get us from point a to point b, hes not great but he knows some things.

yes (hai)...it isn't as difficult as all that. My brother married a girl from Japan and is living there now. When they lived here Miho would say everything in both languages...you pick it up quickly. Once she asked me in Japanese to go get something out of the cupboard and I knew what she wanted even though she didn't use any English...I may not have known exactly what words she used but I knew what she wanted. Good Luck.

ok.....wierd reasons
why? Thay are your friends that shouldn't be like that
Anyways the answer is no simply because people learn languages and stusy them for several years and it takes a long time to perfect
And if your just want to impress your friends just pertend to talk in Japenese they don't understand the language so how would they know what your saying anyways?

No, I realy don't think so...Japanese is so different from english that it would be almost impossible to learn it enough to speak proficietly in even a year, let alone six months. Sorry.

The best way to learn a language quickly is with immersion language classes, where you do nothing but speak that language all day. They are quite expensive, and focus on spoken language, not written, but they do work.

yes. the language is not that difficult to pronounce and the rules are steady and make sense. at 13, you should be able to learn it easier than most adults. you just need to make sure to really study and practice your japanese every day (it can fade faster than you can imagine).

anything's possible but... 6months I think is an unrealistic goal. Unless you move to Japan and are totally emmersed... start w/ a class and work your way up.
