If my church lied to me all this time about Jesus having a wife and kids, I would want to know about it. If he had a German Sheppheard named Rex, I wouldn't care. A continuing bloodline is a little more sidnificant. Come to think of it, why did the Godpel of Judas get thrown out, anyway. How long have people been hiding thigs about all this?

Christians are upset because it raises questions about the authenticity of the church, bible, etc. It brings up valid history, some valid theories, but puts in a little bit 'o fiction as well.

Christians are upset for 2 reasons:

1- They don't want to believe these theories are true.

2- The book doesn't seperate what's fact from what's theory. For example, the book says that there are several gospels left out of the bible. FACT. It says that some gospels imply that Mary and Jesus had a relationship. FACT. It says that Jesus and Mary were married...THEORY, not fact. It says that Jesus kissed Mary on the mouth...FICTION. There is a hole in the parchment here, we don't know where he kissed her.

So, take ideas they don't like and mix it in with theories the book's characters assume are true...and you've got some upset Christians.

The history explained in The Da Vinci Code is about 50% fact, 40% theory-assumption, and 10% false.

first of all, the Da Vinci code is FICTION!!! It doesn't claim to be the gospel truth. Second of all. if Jesus had kids and a wife and a bloodline, what would it matter? I mean, the whole thing that makes Jesus special is that He was GOD in HUMAN form. If he wasn't human, and didn't live as a human, then he couldn't have died, giving up His life for us wouldn't have really been a big deal, if He was divine. but on earth, Jesus was HUMAN, and should have been expected to do human things, such as marry and have kids, I mean, his teachings remain the same.

PS, there are many more books of Gospel that weren't included in the Bible

And if an author lied to you to get money and fabricated a bunch of stuff to sell a conspiracy theory he had to know was false, would you be mad and have wanted to know about it?

Even Wikipedia which is mostly posted on by anti-Bible posters can admit that Brown plagiarized "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" and whose authors admitted their evidence was faulty. Many of his facts rely on convicted con-artist Pierre Plantard who admitted under oath in 1993 to forging the very documents Brown points to as his proof. Plantard also created the Priory of Sion in 1956 as a 2 member social club with his friend Andre Bonhomme as the only other member. It's not a millennia old organization.

Brown even got the wrong # for the amount of windows in the Louvre. His attacks on the council of Nicea and assertions about the gnostic gospels are WAYY off base. I've addressed this sooo many times now. It's ridiculous that people assume a fiction book like this is telling the truth.

I am a Christian Pastor and I'm not upset about it.
As with a lot of things in life it sometimes take controversy to get the Church to dust off it's windows and open them in order to scream out the message of Jesus Christ.
It seems there are a lot of Churches that only address what they consider to be an abomination instead of addressing children being raped, women beaten and raped, and other atrocities against humankind.
It's a movie, a fictional one at that, but at least it's got people talking.

Isaiah 53:8 tells us that Jesus Christ NO descendents. He was never married because he is the Son of God that God anointed. He is the Messiah, the Christ. Scripture tells us that He is BROTHER to all who believe.

The Da Vinci Code is diabolical and blasphemous, not "just" fiction. It has served to confuse many, as we can observe by all the questions that arise because of it. So it is not innocuous.

I personally am mad about the DaVinci Code because it is one of the worst books I have ever read. It was written solely to be a screen play, there was no attempt at actual writing involved.

I am NOT bothered really , just sorry so much money has been wasted on this purely commercial enterprise based on what is mostly hearsay, fiction and mumbo-jumbo .
To any intelligent thinking person, does it really matter ?
