This is more of a confession, too. I know I seem hard on Muslims, asking lots of questions, especially to the females. This is why. I have been over there a combined total of 3 years throughout deployments, and I have observed the actual culture in Iraq, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. Let me say, by far, the Kuwaiti woman has it made.
What sticks with me is when I was in Saudi, all of us female personnel were called out to a formation by our 1SG, and given a basic "rules of behavior" rundown that we had to abide by when off our compound. It was very demeaning to me as an American woman to be told what I can, and cannot do, that was normal in my home land.
Outside this village, we made a breif stop in our convoy to change a tire on a LMTV. There was a woman and a man out in this field fussing with eachother. The woman was pregnant, and obviously so. I had no idea what they were saying, it was in Arabic. Well, next thing you know, the man punches this pregnant woman in the face...TBC

...(continued) and then proceeded to literally stomp her into the Earth when she fell. We all wanted to intervene, but our Platoon Sergeant told us to not do anything, or say anything. I know her baby had to either be dead or injured. I was later told that this was perfectly legal in Saudi, and we didn't have a leg to stand on to tell him to stop.

yes thats awful...but not all muslims act this way..which is why islam has a bad name....I Know plenty of muslim families who love each other and have great lives. Maybe these people werent muslim unless u are sure if she was wearing a headscarf..that is not typical or not accepted pregnant women are regarded very well because children and family is highly valued in islam.
as far as being told what to do its a different country....while ur there u have to do what fits in..its the culture thats what happens there. arent u guys there fighting for peace and stuff? did u not expect to have a different culture? i dunno why you are so surprised.

Saudi Arabia is hell on earth. Totally wicked and evil regime.
No one in their right mind would probably want to live there.
The Saudi Royals are almost like Rulers and Gods in the country.
Heck, Saudi Arabia is named after the Royal family. (The Al Sauds).
Totally disgusting regime that needs to be replaced with a Secular, Modern and Democratic Government, Of the People and By the People!
God Bless :)

I'm really sorry but this whole question sounds fishy. First of all, I can't believe your story of the guy punching his pregnant wife. We are not sword-loving, camel-riding, barbarians (despite the media's portrayal). We are normal people here. Second, if the guy did hit his wife (known to you Americans as domestic violence), uh, isn't that done all over the world? Doesn't domestic violence occur in America? Didn't you see the episode of Oprah with the woman burned by the husband? Why is domestic violence not associated with nationality, race or religion when it occurs in the western world? For goodness sakes, please open your eyes to the reality of the world. Islam is a religion of peace and if there are a few bad representatives of our religion, please don't think we are all like that.

I am sorry to hear about that women and fact that you had to witness that and were told you can't do anything about it.... As for that man if he doesn't get his punishment in this lifetime I hope he has to answer to the lord on this horrible crime he has committed...
As far as Saudi Arabia, it's behind in many things. In fact check Human Rights Watch Report for Saudi Arabia, the violations are astounding considering it's close ties with the U.S.

No. i became born and raised in a Christian relatives. Had it been interior the midsection East, it could have been with the aid of fact my father and mom have been missionaries. additionally, there are lots of midsection jap people who're Christians in spite of growing to be up surrounded by ability of Muslims. Even Saudi Arabia isn't one hundred% Muslim. Heck, Mecca isn't even one hundred% Muslim in spite of all their anti-human rights efforts, passwords, litmus tests, and suits thrown each time a Swiss airplane flies over at 30,000 ft.

Dont you guys have anything to talk about other than Saudi...why are you misleading people......I'm not saying men here are perfect but you guys have more domestic abuse than anywhere else......didn't you hear about the lady that got put on fire by her husband on the Oprah show.....???..there is domestic violence every where...and about women here....I'm a Saudi women...I'm not oppressed and i dont feel that anything is demeaning.,....you have a different culture....the world is not all the same,.,,every country has it's own culture and traditions...I used to live in the US and i find how women there are so sexually exploit is so demeaning and i find how some men have 3soms with there wives with other friends and enjoy it is soooo demeaning and animal like (where is his jealousy), i find how a women loses here femininity and works in masculine jobs like (truck driver, taxi driver, trash, mechanic, etc) is so demeaning to women, and we find how you guys have the highest number of single mothers who have to struggle every day to raise there children is so demeaning I also find that having women not know the father of there dads without taking a DNA test is very demeaning I could go on for days....SO FIND ANOTHER TOPIC OTHER THAN SAUDI ARABIA!!!! AND IT'S CULTURE....NO BODY COMPLAINED TO YOU ABOUT ANYTHING SO MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS...!!!

That was just awful, it had to be terrible to stand by and watch that and not be able to do anything. Although that happens in America too, the woman can get help and it is most certainly not legal. That's just insane, I swear some of them aren't civilized all they know of is violence. I don't think they can or even want to have peace.
