Most any religion that is/was not of the judeo-christian demeanor has been suppressed and some still are. It was done because they could...and because they did not recognise as valid any religion that was different than their own.

Christianity is being the most supressed. Ten Commandment emblems and plaques are falling like flies, Symbols being removed by atheists who want nothing less to have their lifestyle shown on display. No prayers, no Bibles allowed in schools since the early -60's, a few years ago a girl was suspended for reading a Bible on a bus...a teacher was told he would lose his job if his Bible was ever made public in the classroom. I truly do not see Muslims, Buddhists, Hari Krashnas have not been attacked as much as Christianity. The activists, with the help of the ACLU, have not stopped and will continue until the world is rid of any Christian displays ANYWHERE.

The act was brought about to keep any one religion from being the Official religion of the USA! That is all. At the time The Roman Cult were moving in- like they did in many countries. The act was NOT intended to keep people from knowing GOD as it is used today.

It means freedom of and from religion for those who don't want to indoctrinated, religious symbols in public places are out of place..
...they should be in places of worship or in the home or other private spaces, the reason more Christian symbols are being removed is because they are everywhere, they have until now been allowed to infest schoolrooms, courts of law, shared crematoria chapels etc...these shared places are for all people of all religions and none, give us some space to mingle without religious propaganda dominating everything please.
