A very good question and shows you're willingness to learn and study. But the answer is no - yes God did curse Cain and placed a mark upon him so that others would not kill him. But we are not told what that mark was. We are just told that he had to roam the earth away from where he was brought up and where his family lived. You can read of this account in the first few Chapters of Genesis for yourself and then you will know the answer that God would have you know and you won't have to continue to "wonder". Always better to get it straight from the source - I would recommend the King James Version, it can be a little hard to understand, but before you start reading ask God the same question you've asked here and I'm sure he will make it easy for you to understand. It's the innocence of the heart that God hears. Bless you child for seeking truth and not lies.

No. Cain has no connection to black people from Africa, other than both are human. Remember in the flood all people on earth were destroyed. Noah's 3 sons and their wives, and possibly Noah and his wife are the ancestors of all people alive today. All races came from those 8 people. The main reason that Africa is so underdeveloped is the harsh climate. Also, It takes longer for a country to develope the farther away it is from the place where civilization began, or began again.

No - I think that garbage was taught by Mormons or Jehovah Witnesses. Mankind was cursed (read Genesis) when Adam and Eve sinned - but no one was turned any certain colors.
Man was cursed to have to work and toil for his food and face the elements on his own. Eve was cursed to pain in childbirth and so on. Cain when he killed his brother was sent away and a mark placed on him so that if anyone found him would not kill him. That does not sound like a curse to me - but protection though he did not deserve it.., God's mercy at work.
Black people are not cursed no more than white people or Asian peoples or any other race of peoples.

There is some speculation in religious society that Cain may have been the patriarch of the darker skinned people; however, others claim that it was, in fact, Noah's son Ham that fathered the African nations. The story of Noah's ark. Well, after the flood, Noah and his sons Shem, Ham and Japheth along with all of their wives were all the peolple left on earth. One day, Noah had been drinking wine, and he went to his tent, took off his clothes and lay naked on his bed. His son Ham went in to see his father, saw his nakedness, and went out. He told his brothers andbegan laughing at his father. When Noah awoke, he cursed Ham for mocking him and banished him and his wife from their company. Many scholors believe that that is where dark skin was born.
Other scholors believe that the Tower of Babel was where God caused some people's skin to change. In ancient times, everyone spoke the same language and man began to discover ways to build taller and taller structures. They decided that they would build a tower all the way to heaven and be as God is. God decided that He would confuse their languages and disperse them all over the planet. So, it is believed that God changed their skin and their language at the same time. He knew that some would go to the African continent and that the darker skin would help to protect them, so they are not cursed. No child must pay for the sins of his father. They descended from a sinner, and they are sinners just like all of us.
I hope that all I have written has helped to clear things up, but keep in mind, I do not know these things with certainty...no one does. These are all theories and postulations. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to share what I know. God bless!!

UM...You're wayyyy off. Adam, Eve, Caine, and Abel and were already in Africa. Theoretically speaking, I think some parts of Africa are cursed by God because they worship idols and not the true and Living God. I heard that caucasians are cursed too. Be careful who you ask these kind of questions to and how you ask them because I'm offended.

Not a racist question... It depends on what you believe. The bible makes a couple of references to "sinners turning black"
You can believe:
- This is true, and that's why there's black people
- This is a story to explain black people to others 4000 years ago, who had no explaination as to why people were different colors
- Something else entirely.
To assume that black people are somehow less than others IS racist, but to follow a theory that they're cursed shows an intelligence to get to the truth of something. Personally, I think its bogus. Africa is going through the same hardships every culture has gone through at one time or another, and blacks aren't the only races experiencing hardships (look at South America, parts of Asia, parts of the Middle East, etc).

wow, that is the first time that I have heard something like that. being both black and a theology major your question intrigues me. Off the top being born human carries a curse according to genesis. I don't know if specifically our liniage was cursed by God but it is not far fetched to assume that this could be true. BUT because curses can be broken over our lives this, is not that important!
one thing that bothers me is that when Questions like these that refer to the bible as their sourceare asked it takes away from its true Purpose------ which is to be an account of God's redemptive plan of salvation for everyone in this world.
God doesn't want to Curse anyone. He wants to love everyone. asking everyone in a public forum like this by saying that Blacks were cursed in the bible a loving thing to do or was the underlying purpose intended to bring more contempt towards the bibles teachings and the word of God?

Only the uninformed and a few Cults like the Mormons believe in that curse. We are all the same colour--just different shades!
" What colour of skin did the man known as Jesus Christ have ? "
A -- No problem ! I can answer you. Your answer in one word "Brown" !
All the people on this planet Earth are descendants from the first couple -
Adam and Eve. We are ALL just shades of that same colour !
Hold a sheet of Real White and Real Black paper up against your skin.
I can tell you "for certain" that your skin colour matches neither of these
paper colour samples. We are all "off white - or - BROWN !
WE ARE ALL OF THE SAME COLOUR because we are all indeed
descendants of that couple. Because of protective pigmentation we
are of different shades indeed.
What a beautiful example of how OUR MAKER designed us and built
a protective system into our skins to protect us from the suns rays !
Few people realize that The Bible does not say anything in opposition to
what is referred to as "mixed marriages". This is precisely why.
If "mixed marriages" do not work in our society, as it is today, it is because
of the arrogance of man. To "prove" superiority they often use gross
misinterpretations of Bible passages or misapply a Bible passage to
make it look like it proves them correct.

No, and don't listen to the fallacy taught about Ham either.
On the sixth day God created mankind and blessed them and said it was very good.
MANKIND ADAM
We all have read about Cain and Abel (Gen.4:8-17)
How Cain slew Abel, and God cursed Cain and drove him out.
Then Cain said (Gen.4:14) “that every one that findeth me shall slay me”
Who is Cain worried about?
Then in (Gen.4:17) And Cain knew his wife
Where did Cain find a wife?
The answer is in the Hebrew text (Gen.1:26 and Gen.2:7).
Gen.1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image,
after our likeness: ….
The word “man” (Gen.1:26)
in Hebrew text looks like this ( ××× )
with no article means “MANKIND”
The word “man” (Gen.1:26) transliterated is (adam).
Gen.2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, ….
The word “man” (Gen.2:7)
in Hebrew text looks like this ( ×ת־×××× )
with article and particle means “THIS SAME MAN ADAM”.
The word “man” (Gen.2:7) transliterated is (eth-Ha adham).
So on the sixth day God created or made MANKIND.
On the eighth day God formed THIS SAME MAN ADAM.
