Moving several cartons from state to state may be illegal (due to state taxes). Keep them in the suitcases. Putting a pack (or 1 carton) in your purse or carry-on is fine. No lighters or matches until you get off the plane. For all airport rules, find the website of the airport you are going to and you'll find a link for safety and regulations.

I have never had a problem taking cigarettes with me in my bags...and actually I have not had problems with lighters until my latest trip to the Bahamas....Technically though, the lighters are a no-no.
If your cigarettes beep when you go through the x-ray machine, maybe you should switch to a different brand....sounds like they may be putting something a little funny in them....lol

Yeah, you can take cigarrettes on the plane. You'll have to put the pack into the key tray along with all other metal objects. The metal foil they put around smokes is more than enough to set off the metal detectors.

If you are travelling from Chicago to Seattle, you will not be able to shop in the duty-free shops. Duty free shops are in the International concourses at US airports. Domestic-only passengers can't access the part of the airport where the duty-free shops are. Sorry!

I'm sure it's legal, as long as you don't plan on smoking them on the plane. You have to be considerate of the other passengers.
