She occasionally jumps up and points her head towards it as if she's just had an electric shock. She's pretty unhappy with her nether regions at the moment. She had her anal glands cleared out the other day as that's usually the problem, and I've wormed her. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks for the answers but she's definitely not constipated

I would say even though you had the anal glands expressed recently that they are the problem.Watch it for a couple of days and if no improvement see the vet again.Sometimes the glands can become irritated after a cleansing or sometimes they can fill up again quite quickly.

If she is constently having problems with her anal glands, then try adding fiber to her diet. Fiber adds bulk to the stool and that makes the anal glands function better.
My 50 lb girl had this problem. I started giving her a Metamucil capsule every day. She has not had a problem since.

Sounds like fleas. Its the weather for them to hatch out.
They like the rear end, if you run a comb through her fur on to white paper and find little brown specks, its definately fleas.
Hoover your house up to the skirting boards at least once a week, and put the contents straight into the bin.
Hot wash her bedding with no washing powder or fabric conditioner once a week, use soap flakes or something for babies. Don't use a wicker basket, use a plastic bed.
Comb her with a fine toothed comb at least once a day, if you find any fleas drop them into a saucer of surgical spirit to kill them and flush them down the toilet.
Fleas feed off your dog, then drop off to lay eggs.
Get the stuff from your vet that you drop on the back of her neck; I think its called Advantage.

sounds like fleas to me. i am currently the owner of a dog and a cat, the cat does exactly the same thing even though he has the stuff from the vet on the back of his neck. the warm weather can't be helping our furry friends, though, and if he seems distressed i'd ring the vets.

Maybe she has a bellyache, or she could be constipated. If this continues, call your vet.

I had a dog once who did that when he had an especially loud fart--as if it startled him and he had to investigate the source. :-)

But if you're really concerned, ask your vet.

I THINK THE BEST THING TO DO WOULD BE TO TAKE HER TO YOUR VET MAYBE SHE IS OK BUT JUST TO BE SAFE THAT WOULD BE THE BEST THING TO DO
