And be like 50 years old?

I'm a good cook. I'm asking about someone else. What I think happened with him is a neglected childhood, and a successful construction career that allowed him to have a lot of cash, so he could just eat fast food all the time. He is learning to cook for himself now. He has mastered omelets, using an electric omelet maker! LOL! I think it's hilarious, as I'm into Crock Pots and Pressure Cookers.

Are you asking for yourself, or for someone else?

Years ago, I had a roommate who could not cook AT ALL. He was, otherwise, a very smart guy; he just had no knowledge of anything cooking related (it was a little ironic, because I'm a chef). One time, he actually managed to injure THREE PEOPLE while trying to cook pasta. We all recovered from our injuries.

I think it's a bit odd that a grown person would never have been exposed--in his whole life--to cooking. Whether on TV, or in his Mom's kitchen growing up. But, some people don't seem to pay much attention to certain things.

Not everyone needs to be a chef. But everyone needs to eat (well, maybe not that one Olsen Twin). I think having at least a rudimentary grasp on cooking is a good idea for anyone.

They probably have been single all this time and either still have mom cook for them or order out everyday. If they're married, their spouse always does the cooking. It's sad, but I've heard of people like that. It's like the Carl's Jr. commercial says "Without us, some men would starve." It's not always a man who doesn't know how to cook either.

I don't understand this phenomenon at all, cooking is as easy as opening a cookbook and following the directions. My brother's wife does not "know how to cook" and her excuse is that her mother never cooked. I have invited them for dinner and their family is actually afraid of homemade food, they won't eat it, LOL. For her bridal shower, she had Hooters wings, HOOTERS WINGS!?! I love good home cooking, it's the best way to someone's heart.

Because they have been spoiled all there lives and have relied on others to cook. My Grandpa could not make toast or even boil an egg. I can cook most things competently.

Well you know, ... pretending that you don't know how to do something is a great way of getting other people to do things for you. I suspect your friend may have been practising this deception for the best part of his 50 years, and getting away with it too!
