What you really need to do is set 30 minutes a day for relaxing, buy a relaxing cd or tape that talks you into a relaxed state, do this as many times a week as you can manage and at the start of the day, which gives you a good balanced start, also use self affirmations for instance tell yourself several times a day that youu feel good and you are getting beter and better each day, also if you are in a situation that you feel anxious you should count down from 100 in 7s this will make you feel better diverting your thoughts to the sums.

counselling isn't terribly deep - it's basically someone nice to talk to which, like you said, gets it off your chest, but it isn't treatment. Psychotherapy goes deeper. The type of therapy depends on the problem. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for anxiety, if that's all it is, or Cognitive Analytic Therapy or a whole bunch of other things if it's deeper.

And prozac, or whichever is the drug that works for you.

Go do it - hit the doctors and insist!

Dr Burns "10 Days to Great Self-Esteem" is a great book because it gets to the roots of poor self-esteem. Its helped me a lot, but its an ongoing process trying to improve self-esteem.

I'm not very good at expressing my feelings so whenever I need to sort through things in my life I write them down.

Every thought, good or bad I write in a notebook. That's something that really helps me. You should give it a go, may not be the right answer for you but it's worth a try I think.

Councilling is usless...

Solve the root problems in the first place...

Think Zorro or Karate kid.

A mentor to enable you to be someone is far better.

Self defence lessons too and things like skydiving

Likewise things like pole dance lessons and makeovers for females.

Ie if you feel stronger and sexier and better able to take on the world and empowered you will feel better.

I used to be terribly depressed in my youth and plagued by not just "feelings" but certainty of worthlessness. This I can share with you:

Fall in "appreciation" (love) with yourself. Meaning respect and love The Lord above all, and learn to love and respect yourself also. But I don't surely mean "become a narcissistic boob". Just a wholesome and sober state of awareness and responsiblity. It does wonders, believe me.

There is a powerful body-mind connection which you can put to effective use. Eat sparsely, and choose your food with care. Shun garbage when eating. Exercize with perserverance, it brings results. Care for your appearance.

Above all be willing to ask GOD for help by earnest praying to Him. This is no cheap line. Remember Universal Rule One:

"As ye sow so shall ye reap".

And in basic terms imagine, in many years, you wont ought to stay with him anymore ^^

Counceling is forthe psychological side of it.

Counceling is the best, and truly only effective treatment for depression outside of medication.

Enjoy life, and remember that this is the one shot you get at it! This is not the dress rehearsal it's the performance, one day you will be old and wise and have great memories to reflect on.
