1-800-686-0570, this will give her a list of her offenses & the cost of them. Just start paying something on them. If she doesn't want any other punishment, she's going to have to pay them. I'm currently in a very similar situation. I have made a list of my docket #'s, how much they are, etc. & I'm just paying what I can, when I can.

Legal right?

As if a person is allowed to choose their sentence?

I don't think so. Community service is generally something that judges apply when a person shows remorse for what they've done, and gives the impression that they won't do it again.

Your friend has shown that she doesn't have any respect for the law, by breaking it repeatedly, with her speeding, as well as the expired license issue. Additionally, she is demonstrating that she has no respect for the courts, by failing to appear. If I were the judge, I would put her in jail (seriously).

Your friend CLEARLY doesn't deserve to have a license, which is a privilege and a responsibility, not a right. She should probably hire a lawyer as soon as she can.

It is up to the judge to decide sentence, chances are if these are unpaid she has a bench warrant out for her arrest. So if I were her I would contact an attorney or legal aid fast.

Her legal right is what the Judge says her punishment is. Murderers don't get to choose their sentences, why should someone who obviously isn't responsible get to choose theirs.
