If you take the account of the Battle of Troy (not the movie) as fact then you could say that the Trojan horse was an instance of the guards of Troy not being "on guard." According to Homer in the Illiad (I believe) they went out and brought in the horse and thus allowed the city to be taken and completely destroyed.

When George W Bush failed in his military duty he undoubtedly was responsible for the death of a real soldier. That is just one example yet it is the most pertinent example.

Addendum to coombs...my love is in Iraq, called back into active service after years of retirement, he is in a command position and therefore has been kept there overtime then forced to renew his tour and is not expected to return before the new year which is 2007, he's been gone for 3 years. He is a dual citizen of Canada and the US who fought and was injured in the first Gulf War, he has been shot several times in this military action, and on those brief leaves he does get (including hospital) he has only been able to cross back into Canada once. I am not a wife or fiance and have no rights to access him on a base...if I am lucky the military will follow his wishes and at least notify me of his death...I never want to hear that... I fully support my man over there, but I have no support for the man (men) who put him there. That is my service to your country...my love and my future!
