because I have a kitten and a cat in my garage, when they eat I will put the bowls far apart from one another, they will eat their own food sometimes, but when I go back into the house I will look out the window, and cat is eating kitten food(which I already know it is okay for a cat to eat kitten food,I asked a vet)but the kitten is eating cat food,I asked the vet about that and he said it was fine! And I know it is because my kitten is already WAY to fat and kitten food has ALOT of fat in it,my kitten is fatter than my cat! And I know that kittens that arn't at their 1st year need kitten food but,I have a friend and she knows SOOOO much about animals and this is weird it involves her dog to,okay heres the thing my friend has to put at least 10 peices of cat / kitten food in her dogs food bowl or she will not eat her dog food, and she has to give her cats / kittens at least 5 peices of dog food so the cats will eat their food!!!!!

The current theory in the area of feline nutrition is that cats require a much higher protein content in their diet than previously thought. Several diets that are new to the prescription diet arena are approximately 35-40% protein, similar to that found in kitten food. The local feline specialist in my area strongly recommended putting my cats on a high protein diet, and they are doing very well. If you have a relatively healthy adult cat, ask your vet if you could just keep kitten food down for both cats, until the kitten is old enough to go onto adult food. Then you may want to investigate which adult foods have a high protein content.

The reason it's called kitten food is because it's for kittens. Likewise for cat food. It's for adult cats. If you absolutely must feed two different aged cats out of the same feeder, I would use kitten food, because your little baby needs to be properly nourished while it's growing. An adult cat can probably handle a little more than it really needs better than a kitten trying to handle less.

If you have kittens and adult cats in the house and are worried about them eating each others food; look for a cat food that states it is for all life stages. There are some high quality foods tha can be fed to each.

NO NO NO!!!! Kittens 1 year or less eat kitten food. Adults need adult cat food. Kittens need more fat and protien than adult cats, a well known fact. Do you eat baby food? Thought not.

A kitten CAN eat cat food, it won't hurt it, but it needs to also have kitten food until it's at least a year old -- growing babies need the right nutrition.
Cats can certainly eat kitten food, and pregnant and nursing mommy cats SHOULD be eating kitten food until they wean the babies, but then they need food appropriate to their age.

yes but kitten food is richer than cat food so if your cat is eating kitten food you will want to look out for a big weight gain.

No it's not - Kittens need extra vitamins to help them grow.

Cats can eat kitten food but they also require different additives to keep them healthy.

It's not clever changing things around, you'll give them problems in the long term.
