You could play games, read a book, get to know the people around you, listen to music, sleep or annoy the flight attendants.

I'm so envious! Well, to pass the time you could...
a) Watch DVD movies if you're bringing a laptop (don't forget the headphones though) If you go this route rent some German films, old or new, that may give you a peek on places you might want to visit.
b) Bring a german language book, or again, if you're going to be carrying a laptop, you can rent CDRoms that help you learn the language.
c) Read a book, preferable one that takes place in places where you are going. A trip to a good old fashioned bookstore where the sales staff have a good knowledge books will help.
d) Snooze. Like the previous answer. But maybe some melatonin would work instead of knock-out pills. Even with that, you have to take it easy or you'll be sleepy after you arrive. And drink lots of water. That helps jetlag enormously.
Have fun!

Normally on International flights they will run 2 movies. You can bring your own headset. Some International flights still serve a small meal in coach. But, bring snacks. Book a window seat and sleep if you can or dont have to get up a lot. It is recommended to get up a few times and stretch. If you have a personal entertainment system such as a PSP or portable DVD player, you are welcome to bring those too. Books, crosswords etc if you are into them. But, honestly if you break the flight down into portions, it will go by fast. They'll serve a beverage and snack, then the first movie, another beverage round or small meal and then a second movie and sometimes sitcoms in between or after.

Take some snacks & a PSP w/extra batteries & games/movies. You can also load an iPod w/some books from iTunes, word puzzle books. Be grateful it's only nine hours - my upcoming trip to Australia is 14 hours, not including the trip from Texas to LAX.

Drink plenty of water, and try to sleep. You can buy an inflatable neck pillow that fits round your neck like an extra large collar, and they are very comfortable. If you don't think you'll be able to sleep, try getting a book that you've always promised yourself you'll read but have never had the time to get round to it. And there'll be in-flight movies as well and you might get chatting to other passengers. And don't forget your flight socks.

Read, do crossword puzzles, sleep. The portable DVD player to watch movies is an excellent idea, though I'm not sure how long the batteries will last, but it will definitely play at least 1 movie for you.
