Well, it would certainly be helpful, especially if God's take is "where in the name of Me did they get that book from? I didn't write that!"

Unfortunately, since having a Christ complex is automatically assumed to be prime evidence of psychosis and thinking you're a prophet usually convinces the government of every industrialized country, no matter which one you happen to be in, you're a cult leader who has to be stopped for the social good, any prophet that shows back up at this point to illuminate the word of God will either be labeled a lunatic and locked up in a teeny padded room with a guy knitting a sweater that doesn't exist and another one who thinks he's Napoleon, or else tear-gassed, and either shot on the scene or put on trial and hauled off to prison for the rest of his or her life.

Plus, you do have to contend with the pesky fact the Bible says anyone who tries to tell you they know the word of God and that it's somehow different than the Bible is a false prophet trying to lead you to Hell and they'll be cropping up all over the place, while the only guy who can really explain it to you will only show up five minutes after the world ends... so chances are everyone who needs to listen will be busy sticking their fingers in their ears, screaming "No, NO! NOT LISTENING, YOU WHORE OF BABYLON! LA LA LA LA LA!!! NOT LISTENING!!!"

So who knows, could've been tons of them sent down by God to explain things to us, and we could've just ignored them all.

P.S.-- Don't believe me? Check the other answers. Whole list of people saying exactly what I said they would, even the ones who are well aware at how butchered the modern work is and how much B.S. man has written into it.

Are you kidding me? The Bible became corrupted the moment man started deciding which bits stayed and which were to be cut.

As for the prophet thing, I think God speaks through some people already. Part of His army of prophets are current spiritual leaders in all sorts of churches, the ability to watch other people's stupidity (and hopefuly learn from it), as well as the wisdom and insight of the Native Americans.

Personally, I am a Christian. I believe that all of us are responsible for not just our own souls, but those around us. We should consistantly be witnessing to our fellows. That also is helping keep the gospel sacred.

We can be confident that nothing IN the Bible is incorrect; however, we cannot yet be sure that everything which was cut out by man early on in scriptural existence is incorrect. There must be far more investigation into this matter. In fact, we may never know the full truth in our lifetime, but that is of little consequence because it is not for man to know all...that is God's job.

The Bible we have now is the same. It was God-breathed, which means that it was written by God through men. The Bible can only be corrupted by man's interference. Everytime that a man translates the Bible, without the direction of God, opens the Bible up to corruption. To avoid this corruption man will need to keep in mind the Bible's true meaning. The Bible will always be Truth, until man gets involved.

There are many different versions of the Bible. I do believe that it was written by the inspiration of God. And because it was written by man I believe that the Bible is "flawed". The closest most authentic version of the Bible that I study and read is the King James Version. Although that version is not perfect but it comes close. I also believe that if you are hungering and thirsting for righteousness and you are earnestly seeking knowledege, wisdom and understanding then always ask God to grant you that and you will have it...It is no longer necessary to have another prophet to send to us. God will open our eyes to the Truth if we earnestly seek it.

Just follow the 2 commandments that Jesus advised onto us and you cannot be corrupted by anything of this world. Not even the things that you don't accept of the bible

Since of course we have his word perserved though both writing and traditions, the true faith is still there.

But of course the prophet could be told as a true prophet of God, since he would profess Jesus as the Savior and his words would not go against the Bible

There is always proof of God.
Romans 1:20
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Deifying common humans there, are ya, Tracy? Well, I know someone who's just been moved from the "Let In" to the "Don't Let In" list.

St. Peter holds the list. And I'm talking about Heaven. Yep.

Wow. It does feel good to judge!
