Because in some countries they don't have the same health guidelines like others. Some countries do not even sterilize things or have filtered water. This causes contaminated foods and bad water. When they don't cook their foods at the right temperatures you get food poisoning and well you know what happens. Diarrhea and vomiting.

In many places, the water is not treated adequately, leaving water-born microbes causing the effects you described. Even if the water is treated sufficiently, sometimes the changes in pH, mineral content, etc. from location to location can upset some folk's upper and/or lower GI tracts.

Not every country is safe when it comes to food. Many don't have proper water treatment facilities and that allows disease to enter the body after they eat food.

I had it when i was in mexico. Took almost a week to get rid of it.

It can be a change in diet (things they are not accustomed to eating) change in schedule, or stress. Most people believe it is the water but that is not always the problem since I have had the problem and I was drinking bottled water !

The water in other countries could be contaminated. The ice is bad also, Even washing the fruit or vegetable in their water can make you sick. Always use bottled water when traveling abroad.

because when your at home your in your own environment, and you become immune to it along with diseases and sicknesses in it. soo when you travel around the world you will pass through many different environments that your body isn't used to, thus causing you to become sick with vomiting and or diarrhea

The water and food, We are lucky in America we have our water tested and cleaned, and our food checked out, even though some mad cow and thing bad do still happen, just not as bad here as in other countrys, Keep you butt in the USA...

It is the natural bacteria of the area. When traveling I always take acidophiles pills to correct the bacteria in my digestive system. they are really cheap at Wal-Mart. Never got sick yet!

They are not used to the different types of foods other countries have. Then when they do come back they have to get used to their own again. LOL...

Most likely because they ignored any advice they were given on what foods and / or drinks to avoid, and ate / drank it anyway...... and learn't the hard way why they weren't suppose to consume it.
